He also heads up the Planning and Development team, where he is responsible for a wide range of clients including private sector developers and investors, public sector bodies and local authorities. He is actively involved in a wide range of complex project work covering regeneration, town centre development and commercial planning advice. He is experienced in the working and requirements of the statutory planning system including the preparation of development appraisals, commercial planning advice, the submission and negotiation of applications and planning appeals. Expert witness work, public inquiries, environmental assessments, urban capacity studies, employment studies are also undertaken. Gary also co-ordinates the specialist sector services Deloitte Real Estate offers in the Midlands region. Gary is the Chair of the Colmore Business District and the immediate past Chair of Birmingham Forward. Gary is also a Board Director of Birmingham Opera Company. Ian Stringer; Regional Senior Director, GVA Grimley, Birmingham Ian is currently appointed as Regional Senior Director of GVA in the Midlands. He is currently an elected member and past non-executive chairman of the firm’s Board (2005 – 2007). Ian has 25 years’ experience in the office sector, mostly in the Midlands, dealing with leasing, disposals and acquisitions but specialising in development consultancy and leasing Birmingham’s central core office market. Clients include The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, Argent Group plc, Friargate Coventry LLP, KPMG, Arena Central Developments LLP and Birmingham Mailbox Ltd. Ian is a founding member and past Chairman of the West Midlands branch of the Office Agents Society and a member of the British Council for Offices. Carl Durrant; Director Jones Lang LaSalle, Birmingham Carl has over 20 years experience of working in the Midlands Commercial Property Market specialising in new major industrial/logistics developments. He was a former partner at King Sturge LLP heading up their Industrial/Logistics team and Carl is now a lead director in the Industrial/Logistics team at Jones Lang LaSalle. He is a former chairman of the West Midlands Agents Society, has appeared as an expert witness and works for a full range of clients including the following; SWIP, Prologis, Schroders, Canmore, Bericote Developments, Opus Land, Legal and General, Coltham Developments and Stafford County Council. Recent noteworthy transactions Carl has been involved with include; the acquisition of a new national distribution centre for Network Rail totalling 300,000 sq.ft. and the acquisition of the former Peugeot car plant in Coventry totalling 145 acres for Trenport Investments. Jones Lang Lasalle are recent winners at the EG Awards for the Industrial Advisor of the Year. Edward Gamble; Senior Director CBRE, Birmingham Ed Gamble joined CBRE in June as a Senior Director in the National Capital Markets team based in Birmingham. Ed had previously spent the last 8 years working as a Director in the Jones Lang Capital Markets team, however started as a Graduate at Insignia Richard Ellis September 1999. Ed’s primary focus is buying and selling of investments across the Midlands with a specialism in distribution and city centre offices. Ed has been involved in some high profiled transactions including the sale of 1 Snowhill for £127m and the purchase of the Mailbox at £117m. His time is spent between London and Birmingham working in conjunction with the wider national team clients focusing on opportunities for key client including F & C REIT, IM Properties, Aviva, Brockton, Moorfield and Scottish Widows. He also focuses an element of his time on forward funding and development opportunities with local Birmingham Developers.
