Gregg Barton, Director, Infrastructure; Turner & Townsend

Gregg Barton leads and manages the Turner & Townsend Infrastructure Northern Project and Programme Management team. Wealth of experience within the UK in a number of sectors and industries including; utilities, power, transport, government and commercial.

As Turner & Townsend’s Northern Infrastructure leader for LEP’s and Combined Authorities Gregg and his team’s support has been to proactively supporting the Engine Midlands and Northern Powerhouse through HS2, Network Rail, Highways England, Transport for Greater Manchester, Midlands Connect, West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Chambers of Commerce. Gregg actively further supporting HS2 Eastern Leg events as a speaker during 2016.

Gregg is based in Leeds and has been proactively supporting the Northern Powerhouse, having recently co-authored the report by the West Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce on maximising the potential of the Yorkshire hub.


Martin Farrington, Director of City Development; Leeds City Council

Impact of HS2 on West Yorkshire Transport - Martin FarringtonMartin is responsible for property, highways including potholes and street lighting, libraries, museums, galleries and stately homes, sports and leisure centres, business support, markets, regeneration work, jobs and skills and cultural events such as Party in the Park and Opera in the Park. He is responsible for the management of the city’s major developments such as the Leeds Arena and the transformation of the central shopping area.


Jamie Kerr, Managing Director; HS2 Growth Partnership

Impact of HS2 on West Yorkshire Transport - Jamie KerrThe HS2 Growth Partnership is collaboration between LCR and HS2 Ltd, set up to pursue regeneration and development opportunities along the HS2 route, but principally around the stations. I have been seconded into the Partnership from HS2 and am supported by two senior team members and the development and asset management teams within LCR.

Collaboration agreements have been set up with all the authorities along the route to bring forward opportunities for development.
The Partnership is also advising HS2 Ltd on integration of the stations into the wider area and on commercialisation within the stations.
Another role of the Partnership is to secure private sector finance to support the programme.


Nigel Foster, Director of Strategy; Transport for the NorthNigel Foster

Nigel Foster joined Transport for the North in July 2016 as Director of Strategy. Before joining TfN he worked for 25 years at the global consulting firm Arup, in London and in their Leeds and York offices, leading the planning and transport businesses in the UK, Middle East and Africa, and Consulting in the North.

Following that role, he helped set up a new company called Fore Consulting with colleagues from Arup, and he has had a range of non-executive director roles in the public and private sectors.
