The Bridgend Council’s Cabinet is preparing to approve the transfer of the old Bridgend police station and Cheapside multi-story car park to Bridgend College.

This move comes in anticipation of the construction of a new town centre campus.

The police station has already been demolished, but the demolition of the Cheapside multi-story car park is yet to begin.

The call for bids for the car park’s demolition is scheduled for August 2023, and the work is expected to be completed by April 2024.

The demolition process is anticipated to be highly complex due to the car park’s location near the railway, Aldi, and Asda. Network Rail must grant permission before any work can commence.

As of now, there is no information on when the construction of the new campus will begin, as the planning application is still pending.
