Following the opening of the Mersey Gateway, the second River Mersey crossing between Runcorn and Widnes, a five year masterplan for Astmoor Industrial Estate has been approved, set to offer 21 acres of development space which could create up to 2,000 jobs.

Astmoor Industrial Estate is located 2.5 miles north of Runcorn Town Centre, well situated on the approach to, and visibly prominent on, the Mersey Gateway Bridge and is located off the Daresbury Expressway (A558) with easy access to Junctions 11 and 12 of the M56 Motorway and Junction 7 of the M62 Motorway. The Estate consists of a wide range of industrial units and warehouses, comprising separate terraces and courts.

Astmoor Industrial Estate was first established in the 1960’s and remains a thriving and significant employment area within Halton, home to major businesses as Howden’s, Kawneer, and Kuehne & Nagel.

The Masterplan was adopted by Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board in 2020 and, in 2022, developer Langtree was appointed by the Council to deliver the regeneration of a 21-acre plot, through the development of four cleared development plots capable of delivering around 185,000 square feet of new industrial space, using land set aside to support the construction of the Mersey Gateway.

Four cleared parcels of land extending to 21 acres present significant industrial development opportunities brought forward by Halton Borough Council.
