Caledonian Modular successful in two educational builds Posted on: February 20th, 2019 Caledonian have announced that they’ve successfully bid for two new school projects in England – as they continue to drive forward their modular offering to educational institutions across the UK. The projects, valued at £38m, have been named as the Haygrove School in Somerset and The Sir Frederick Gibberd College in Essex. Caledonian, who’ll be speaking at our Offsite Manufacture Conference & Exhibition in June, will be completing 96% of the work at their factory site in the East Midlands before installing the units on site. [emaillocker id=”71749″] At the same time as the modules are being manufactured, Caledonian, operating as the principal contractor, will be carrying out groundworks and other works on site, meaning handover can be up to half the time it would take a traditional build. Sir Frederick Gibberd College will be built at the site of the former Passmore School in Harlow and is worth £29m. It will comprise a 1,200 place secondary school built over three storeys including a school hall, dining hall, drama studio and a 500 place sixth form teaching area as well as sports facilities and all associated external works and pitches. Work being undertaken at Haygrove School in Bridgwater will involve utilising Caledonian’s component-based school solutions to replace the main school building with modern and efficient teaching environments. The construction work will be undertaken while the school remains open and works will be carefully planned to ensure minimal disruption. The three-storey building will consist of classrooms, double-height hall and studio spaces, offices, kitchen and associated rooms for educational purposes, along with enabling, groundworks and external works.
