The building, which has been derelict since 2004, is in the Temple Works area of the city, and CEG are planning to bring new office space to the city through the renovation plans. Permission is being sought to refurbish the building, including the re-organisation of internal space to create 85,000 sq ft of space – mainly for office use which could be for a single or multiple occupants. A new cafe is also planned and the main entrance will be moved to a more prominent location.

Also within the plans are:

  • Improvements to the buildings exterior
  • Creation of an internal hub including a cafe, lounge and meeting space
  • Showers, changing rooms and lockers
  • Parking facilities – 19 for car, 8 for motorcycle and 80 for cyclists
  • Roof amenity space

A planning statement submitted as part of the application said: “The refurbishment and bringing back into active use a building which currently detracts from the surrounding heritage assets and wider area. This will assist with the wider regeneration of the site and provide employment opportunities to existing and future residents of the Holbeck area.”
