Construction partners are being sort for a £80m multi-use redevelopment that will transform the look of Gloucester’s city centre.

Last month Gloucester City Council signed off on the scheme, which will see the demolition of a range of buildings in the Kings Quarter to be replaced with The Forum, an innovation hub that incorporates a hotel, conference centre, apartments, car park, gym and 128,000sqft of office space.

Council leader Richard Cook confirmed that, in terms of building work, the aspiration was to “keep the business local”.

Richard Graham, MP for Gloucester said: “This development is aimed at attracting digital companies with an international reach to the heart of Gloucester – next to the Transport Hub and soon to be improved railway station. This is one of Gloucester’s key projects and its success will help transform our city centre.”

The Reef Group have been acting as the development partners but now the council’s procurement agents (Cube Management Services) are looking to hear from building firms for the 30-month design-and-build contract.

The Forum is the centre piece of a wider £114m investment in Gloucester which has seen work start on revamping Kings Square while the nearby bus and railway stations are due to receive a £30m overhaul over the next two years.
