Hays, leaders in specialist recruitment and workforce solutions, has announced their involvement in Built Environment Networking’s inaugural Tomorrow’s Net Zero event set to take place in London between 6-7th September 2022.

The partnership will see them take to the Main Stage to chair a high-level discussion on ‘Delivering for Tomorrow’s Net Zero Jobs’. The session will be chaired by Hays’ National Director for Sustainability, Paul Gosling, who will delve into the challenges before creating 250,000 highly skilled green energy jobs by 2030, in addition to many more needing to support the industry with over £12bn set to be invested by 2030.

Speakers for the session include:

  • Paul Gosling – National Director for Sustainability, Hays
  • Prof Jessica Davies – Director at the Centre for Global Eco-Innovation @ University of Lancaster
  • Prof Joe Howe – Chair @ North West Hydrogen Alliance
  • Paul Methven – STEP Director @ UK Atomic Energy Authority
  • Sarah Mukherjee MBE – CEO @ Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment

Speaking of their involvement in the event, Paul Gosling, National Director for Sustainability at Hays, said: “We’re really excited to be hosting the panel session as we look to focus on how we can create a pipeline of talent for tomorrow’s Net Zero jobs.

There are already skills shortages across the environment and sustainability sector including in roles focussed on environmental management, low carbon, sustainable buildings, ESG and corporate sustainability. The sector is also evolving rapidly with new policies, issues and technologies emerging all the time.

Given this, employers and educators need to act urgently to form a pipeline of talent for the jobs that are going to be built over the next decade.

With the government’s ambition to create two million green jobs by 2030, encouraging individuals already in work and the next generation to consider a career under this remit is essential – as is keeping the conversation going on how we can develop the skills of tomorrow.”

Keith Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer of UKREiiF, added: “Hays has been empowering people and businesses to succeed for over 50 years’ – offering an unrivalled suite of recruitment and workforce solutions whether it be for those looking for a career move or companies with gaps to fill.

“It’s therefore a pleasure to have them involved in this panel discussion which will delve into the challenges, barriers and opportunities to create highly skilled green jobs across the UK – something which Hays will be heavily involved in.”
