Jen, who is currently Head of Economic Development at Newcastle City Council and Director at Invest Newcastle, joins a hugely representative list working on the UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF), which culminates with a three-day conference and networking event in Leeds next May (17-19).

The event, based at the Royal Armouries and Leeds Dock, is designed to help bring together the public and private sectors to support the ambition for the UK to Build Back Better following the pandemic. It’s key themes are net zero, diversity and skills.

UKREiiF founder Keith Griffiths said: “Jen has tremendous experience in investment and  regeneration and I am delighted she has agreed to join the Advisory Group, which is doing a great job, helping to steer the development of UKREiiF and next year’s event.

“We have a fantastic range of voices in the Advisory Group and with their help we are making tremendous progress. Next year’s event will represent a tremendous opportunity for industry professionals from every sector to develop new relationships and facilitate economic prosperity.”

Jen has more than 15 years trade and investment experience within both the public and private sector. These recently include leading on the city’s tech and digital strategy and working as Deputy Head and Trade Investment Director at Tech North, part of Tech City UK, working across the seven cities of Manchester, Newcastle, Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Sunderland and Hull.

She formerly headed up the Japanese investment desk at One North East, remote managing offices in Tokyo and Osaka and assisting companies such as Nissan, Panasonic, Hitachi and NSK in their investment and expansion activities. During this time, she was involved in bringing the manufacture of the Nissan electric vehicle to Northern England as well as bringing Hitachi Rail to Durham to manufacture rolling stock.

Following One North East Jen worked for UK Trade and Investment (now Department for International Trade) as an International Trade Advisor, helping technology and service sector companies export products and services to overseas markets.
