Landsec, the largest commercial property development and investment company in the UK and speaker at the Smart Cities Development Conference, have today revealed a strong market performance as they look at developing future opportunities. The announcement comes alongside plans to build more than 4,000 new homes within London – primarily on the suburbs of it’s thriving retail sites.

The new homes are a major boost for the Capitals housing needs – with planning applications set to be submitted for several mixed-use schemes. Two of those, with a development total of £1bn, will be at Finchley Road and Shepherd’s Bush – with the application expected to be submitted in the Spring of 2019.

Speaking of the announcement and other plans Robert Noel, Chief Executive of LandSec, said: ”We see excellent potential for a new town centre at Lewisham, with our ownership of Lewisham Shopping Centre, SE13 forming the core of a potential 8.3 acre mixed use destination. In addition to this, we’re exploring the potential at other locations in London.”

LandSec have also confirmed ambitious plans in the Capital as their development pipeline grows. This has increased to 2m sq ft of office development totalling an estimated cost of £2bn.

Noel added that LandSec are also ‘assessing new sites for the next generation of London developments’ as they continue to deliver strong market results.
