Legal & General are one of the leading firms in the ever growing BTR sector – and one of the stand-out elements of their projects is the exceptional branding and wayfinding.

Behind the design and implementation is leading wayfinding, signage design and place branding firm f.r.a and we take a look at some of their work…

Spring Wharf – Bath

This scheme is one of a collection of build to rent (BTR) schemes Legal & General has commissioned f.r.a to work on.

f.r.a worked closely with brand agency Identity to translate their design concepts into a practical wayfinding package which they saw through to delivery, coordinating and managing the signage manufacture and installation.

They provided the wayfinding documentation package, tender administration services and project management including fabrication oversight to ensure the highest quality assurance were met.

Legal & General have since appointment f.r.a to delivering their wayfinding across numerous other BTR schemes – with some of those highlighted below.

Deansgate Square – Manchester

West Tower is part of Manchester’s iconic Deansgate Square development and is the first of four build to rent residential schemes to complete in the city.

Continuing their relationship with Legal & General for their BTR portfolio f.r.a were commissioned to develop the wayfinding on a number of other BTR schemes including West Tower. Bridging the gap between the brand they worked closely with the brand agency, Identity to develop the wayfinding in line with the brand. They implemented the scheme, project managing manufacture and installation including snagging signage on all 44 floors to ensure the highest level of quality was achieved.

f.r.a went on to be commissioned by Renaker to work on the remaining trio of towns on the Deansgate Square development due to the excellent delivery – developing the wayfinding strategy through to implementation. The towers will reach as high as 64-storeys, providing 1508 luxury apartments and penthouses.

The Whitmore Collection – Birmingham

This project is the fourth BTR scheme f.r.a have completed for Legal & General.

Located in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, the £53m project is a collection of 220 apartments, townhouses and clubhouse housed in a Victorian warehouse.

Continuing their relationship with brand agency Identity, we brought the brand to life, developing the wayfinding strategy through to end stage delivery.

Taking inspiration from the strong heritage of the Jewellery Quarter, the scheme includes industrial materials and processes such as exposed steelwork and monochrome graphics. Ensuring our design intent was realised we formally tendered the package, project managing the manufacture and installation.
