Legal & General’s Pete Gladwell joined the UKREiiF Advisory Group this week to become its 19th member.

Pete, who is L&G’s Head of Public Sector Partnerships, joins a host of senior public and private sector professionals advising on the inaugural three-day networking, exhibition and conference super event in Leeds next year (May 17-19).

Chaired by Lord Kerslake, the Advisory Group will work alongside event organisers Built Environment Networking to create the most topical, effective, inclusive, engaging and environmentally-friendly event possible.

Pete, who has worked for the asset management giants for 14 years, said: “If we’re to create places that enable people to thrive and the environment to flourish, then a multiplicity of different entities will be involved; those who steward places, those who steward the nation’s pensions and savings, advisors, government, developers, architects, contractors, and registered providers will all have a role to play.

“Not one of these entities will be able to create the catalytic impact that’s required on their own – and the more we focus on our role in society, the more we become aware of the need to work with others.

“I see an opportunity for this to be forum where we can learn together, inspire one another, and from which coalitions of catalytic change can emerge. I trust that a UK-based context will both embody the industry’s challenge and – in diversity, sustainability, and patient investment – demonstrate the relevance of our solutions.”

UKREiiF creator Keith Griffiths will chair regular meetings with the Advisory Group, whose members reflect UKREiiF’s aims to embrace the Government’s Build Back Better agenda with special focus on radically improving sustainability in the built environment, creating innovation through having a diverse and inclusive working environment and developing skills to ensure the industry is provided for in the future.

He said: “The Advisory Group is representative of the industry, covering all sectors and including businesses and organisations which are key players in the both the private and public sector. I have been delighted how they have all embraced the aims of UKREiiF and look forward to them playing a full part in its success.”
