University MK:U Milton Keynes

A new university which is planned for Milton Keynes has moved a step forward, with new details emerging.

MK:U – with Cranfield University acting as the lead higher education institution – will be able to accept around 15,000 students once opened, with a heavy focus on digital skills. [emaillocker id=”71749″]

An environmental impact assessment (EIA) scoping report has now been lodged with Milton Keynes Council for the development site.

MK:U – who’re speaking at our Oxford Cambridge Arc Development Conference – will include:

  • 1.7m sq ft of university space
  • 3,000 on-site student beds
  • 600 parking spaces
  • Employ 1,800 staff

In its scoping opinion, Milton Keynes Council planners said: “The proposed scope of the ecological surveys that are planned are agreed. However, bat surveys should be extended to include the existing electricity substation; all trees on site should be inspected and categorised as to their bat-roosting potential.” [/emaillocker]
