Located on the site of a former textile and furniture factory and close to popular Jewellery Quarter pub the Lord Clifton, The Lamp Works is a residential led mixed-use scheme, providing a mix of 125 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. The recently submitted application is for an additional 23 apartments and two commercial units.

Once complete, The Lamp Works will comprise six distinct but cohesive blocks around a striking urban woodland, with original steel structural design created by a multi-award-winning landscape designer.

Residents will benefit from high-quality communal facilities, including a shared lounge, co-working space, studio and communal kitchen/diner, perfect for hosting events.

Alongside the high-quality apartments, The Lamp Works will also provide a selection of ground floor commercial units, fronting Great Hampton Street and Harford Street.

Cordia Blackswan is committed to a placemaking-led approach to its developments, going ‘beyond the red line’ of their developments to ensure that their homes also benefit both their residents and the surrounding area. The company is applying this ethos more broadly to improve the environment along Great Hampton Street.

Marcus Hawley, Managing Director at Cordia Blackswan, said: “The Lamp Works is an exciting rental development boasting a first of its kind urban woodland with many shared amenities. Our aim here is to create a real community vibe. With the recent changes in the way our day to day lives are structured, our relationship with our homes has changed and we want to create spaces where people can come to together to live, work and play.”

“Working with the Jewellery Quarter BID, we will begin to reverse the under-investment that Great Hampton Street has suffered over the years, transforming this key route into an appealing, contemporary urban setting for local people to enjoy for years to come.

“We see massive potential in the Jewellery Quarter which continues to be one of the city’s most attractive residential areas – supporting Birmingham’s ambitions to be a world class city.”

If approved, construction of the extension will begin in 2022 with apartments ready for occupation in 2023.
