Following their Collaborating to De-Carbonise Development Webinar we’re been speaking to Rod Brassington, Chief Executive of Prosper…

Q. What services does Prosper offer to organisations working across the built environment?

As a not-for-profit strategic business consultancy, we specialise in procurement, business improvement and new build services.

We extended our service offering a few years back as we’ve always worked with our partners to be partner in choice for procurement but our team has expertise in other areas and we have added this knowledge to the solutions we offer. The additional services meant we could enter new areas of the sector and work with our partners on a wide range of projects.

Q. What are some of the prominent organisations that Prosper have collaborated with?

We work with housing providers in the North East. Some of our partners include: Thirteen, Karbon, Your Homes Newcastle and Gentoo, North Star, Beyond, Believe, Tyne Housing, and Northumberland County Council. Our service offering means we can help tailor a solution for any type or size of organisation.

Q. How can collaboration help in reducing the carbon emissions emanating from development?

At Prosper, we believe good collaboration helps us succeed and work with other organisations to succeed together. All to often framework providers offer their own version of the same solution giving choice to the market but all to often this is without thought to the duplication of effort creating inefficiency around cost, resource and process. Therefore, Prosper has and is exploring opportunities to collaborate with other like-minded organisations for the benefit of all stakeholders. We hope working in this way will bring greater innovation and challenge many of the current misconceptions around carbon reduction. This kind of focus can enable us to collectively find the solutions to achieve these challenging targets.

Q. Prosper is primarily focused on the North-East region, how do you see the region’s prospects when it comes to sustainability and carbon reduction?

We take pride in the North East as we are known to work together, and I think by doing this we can make a real difference. We want to collab with similar organisations who have the same mission to really help make a difference and I have confidence we can do this.

Q. You’re in the process of developing a focused Procurement and Land Brokering consultancy, how will you achieve your goal of becoming the partner of choice for social landlords and public sector organisations?

We believe this will be achieved by delivering the solutions and services we offer well, utilising our experience and knowledge to add value for our partners. This will be offered through bespoke solutions tailored to meet the needs of our partners who we hope will view Prosper as an extension of their internal teams with our flexible, versatile approach.

Q. How was your experience hosting the recent Collaborating to De-Carbonise Development webinar?

We really enjoyed it. It was a great platform to get a great, in depth discussion with our guests. The purpose of the webinar was start a conversation about carbon emissions and we definitely had a lot of interaction so I would definitely do a similar event again.
