A virtual recruitment fair is set to be held in January to help tackle unemployment, with over 1,000 job opportunities set to be highlighted.

The event, staged by Built Environment Networking which provides events in the construction and property industry, is the second such event after a hugely successful inaugural recruitment fair where over 300 job seekers attended.

The event, taking place on the 27th January, is both free to attend and free for companies to exhibit if they’re looking to recruit.

Amy Atkins, Delivery Manager at MOLA who exhibited at the last event, said: “The last events was really good – we got to meet lots of interesting people are we’re in discussions about some of them joining MOLA. As well as this we’ve also had people reaching out for career advice on working in archaeology, we’ve met with a University to discuss working with them and their students and more. It was very useful for MOLA as well as the attendees and we’re looking forward to being involved again in January.”

Hope Thorley, Resourcing Advisor at Pick Everard who also got involved in the event, added: “The last Built Environment Recruitment Fair was the most engaging fair we’ve ever attended as a practice. Built Environment Networking worked endlessly to ensure the fair ran as smoothly as possible. Given how testing these current times are for many, this fair allowed professionals of all levels to connect with relevant firms, to talk through their skill and understand what opportunities were out there, and we can’t wait to attend the next one.”

Keith Griffiths, Managing Director of event organisers Built Environment Networking, said: “Th ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has caused an upsurge in unemployment and has acutely affected many professional in the built environment sector. The pause in recruitment that many firms embarked on it response to pandemic-related uncertainty or financial strain has also acted as a barrier to employment and with measures set to continue into the New Year this may surge again.

“But there are also firms who’ve found opportunities within the pandemic and are growing – and this event will look to promote and highlight some of those positions. The event will offer support from experts in CV writing, social media experts and best practice with interviews whilst also highlighting over 1,000 job openings and opportunities.”

One of the attendees seeking a job at the last event also shared their feedback of the importance of the event: “The Built Environment Recruitment Fair was vital in helping me find a job – and the access was really easy to use. We could chat with every company really easily at their virtual booths – and I would recommend everyone who is looking for a job to attend this event.
