Built Environment Networking, the organisers behind The UK’s Real Estate Investment & Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF), has official been given ISO20121 Event Sustainability Management Accreditation – following an onsite audit at the inaugural UKREiiF event in May.

The accreditation looks to mitigate the impact events have on resources, society and the environment – whilst also relieving the strain on local infrastructure and utilities to reduce the potential for conflict in communities where events are hosted.

With over 100 events run annually Built Environment Networking are making a major commitment to make their events more sustainable through this announcement. They worked with Crowberry Consulting, an environment, ethics, and corporate responsibility management consultancy, and TP Professional Services who focus on business transformation, efficiency and improvement, to prepare for the Accreditation audits.

UKREiiF has worked tirelessly over the past 18 months to achieve the accreditation – with a dedicated in-house ISO Team to champion sustainability and integrate it into the business, whilst changes have been made which have a positive impact on the environment, such as 100% of general waste being recycled with none going to landfill.

Keith Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer at Built Environment Networking, said: “I’d like to thank the whole team at Built Environment Networking and those of our partners and supply chain who have helped us achieve the feat. It’s another example of how we’re leading the way in important issues in the industry, such as measuring the social value generated from UKREiiF too, and it shows that the way forward for events of this type and scale should be based right here in the UK.”
