Our vision for UKREiiF was to create not only an annual event which was the leading platform for the public and private sector in our industry to gather, but also a core pillar has always been to deliver for the communities many of us either serve or work within.

The content at UKREiiF across our programme showcases this, and the incredible mix of companies and locations represented adds to this.

But utilising the platform to drive social impact was always a key aim, and one small part of that is supporting charities – both nationally and locally.

Through direct donations through ourselves and from partnering on several events which raised money for charity we helped to raise £150,000 for charities, in addition to £600,000 being gifted to charitable and not-for-profit organisations. Here’s a look at some of those we partnered with:

Pagabo Foundation Feel Good Games

Having hosted the first Feel Good Games on ‘The Tiltyard’ at UKREiiF due to the growth of the site the games has now moved to the Monday before UKREiiF at a local stadia.

The now annual event saw 15 teams from the construction industry battle to be crowded the winners of a physical contest with 8 events taking place from welly wang to obstacle courses. Lindum were crowded the winners but ultimately the winners were those benefitting from the Pagabo Foundation as just under £35,000 was raised in total.

Canal Connections

We directly donated £20,000 to Canal Connections CIC – a local charity utilising waterways for social regeneration. This donated was used to revamp a canal barge and bring it into use for the charity which they can now reuse for commercial purposes whilst also supporting their daily activities which include supporting individuals through bereavement and those looking to tackle addictions.

Here’s a video that showcases the charity:

UKREiiF Sportif

Hexa Consulting, a specialist engineering consultancy, approached us about hosting an official UKREiiF Sportif  in 2022 and ofcourse we said yes, as they were aiming to raise funds for Yorkshire Children’s Charity.

The event mixed the promotion of wellbeing with raising funds for charity so we supported through various means which enabled them to raise sponsorship and funds which resulted in circa £30,000 being raised for the charity. Those involved took part in either a 60km or 100km route option taking in the beautiful views of Yorkshire.

Supporters include DLA Architecture, Gardiner and Theobald, Hoare Lea, Moda, Overbury, Quod, RBA, Vince Construction and Walker Morris.

Various Others

I wont delve into all of our partnerships but we worked with many organisations. We worked with Freehold – a networking forum for LGBTQ+ professionals and TFT – on an event which in 2022 raised £400 for local charity Angels of Freedom, but this year that number was circa £3,000 with the funds going to Not A Phase, a trans-led grassroots charity dedicated to awareness campaigning and social projects. A similar figure was raised via the ‘Yes We Can’ event which raised money through sponsorship and tickets for PACS1, an ultra-rare genetic disorder only found currently worldwide in 120 children.

We’re building on this already for UKREiiF 2024 and look forward to sharing more of our charitable stories in the months to come.
