Law firm, Walker Morris, will lead the ‘Building Safety Act One Year On: Practical Answers to Ongoing Challenges’ session at the Industry in Focus Pavilion. This session will see a panel of legal and industry experts discussing likely future challenges and practical solutions around remediation orders remediation contribution orders and building liability orders. The discussion will be chaired by Paul Hargreaves, Partner at Walker Morris and will include Jonathan Selby KC, Keating Chambers, Asia Munir, Senior Associate at Walker Morris and Bart Kavanagh, Technical Director at HKA.

Speaking of their involvement, Paul Hargreaves, said: “We’re looking forward to leading the discussion on the Building Safety Act at the 2023 UKREiiF event.

The Building Safety Act is an important piece of legislation for all those operating in the built environment. The new powers provided for in the Act radically change the rights and obligations of those involved in the design, construction and management of buildings and whilst those changes are welcome, they will inevitably lead to further challenges by those seeking to use those powers. We hope to provide some practical guidance to those involved in order to manage the challenges they may face.”

Keith Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of UKREiiF, said: “We are delighted to have Walker Morris as a speaker at the UKREiiF Annual Event 2023

“Their expertise and knowledge will add great value to the conference, and we look forward to hearing their insights on the current and future state of the legal landscape in construction and real estate.”

Led by property events company Built Environment Networking and supported by some of the biggest UK property and infrastructure companies, the annual UKREiiF event will be held in Leeds on 16-18 May 2023. The forum will attract inward investment, generate economic growth and drive a more sustainable and inclusive culture within the property and construction industries.
