Plans for an impressive new £200m business park at Teeside International Airport have been announced – which could create almost 4,500 new jobs.

The Airport, now under the ownership of the Tees Valley Combined Authority (75%) and Stobart Group (25%), is set to be transformed after previous plans to expand and grow the airport under previous owners never materialised. Funding needs to be agreed but the Combined Authority is hopeful of receiving approval to borrow £23.6m for crucial infrastructure to unlock the development site. [emaillocker id=”71749″]

The news comes after Teeside International Airport recruited Phil Forster as Head of Airport Development – a major recruitment coup from Yorkshire’s Leeds Bradford Airport. Phil is now set to speak at the North East Development Conference on the 8th January to reveal exclusive intel into the future vision and development plans for the site.

The 270-acre employment site will have a focus on logistics, manufacturing and commercial sectors.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “I’ve always said our airport wouldn’t just be about flights, it’s a major economic driver and job creator. Since bringing the airport back into public ownership and saving it from closure, a number of businesses have already approached us wanting to set up at the airport. If approved, the funding will allow us to unlock the Southside of the airport, a space which has huge potential for business of all sectors, not just aviation, and the creation of 4,400 good quality, well paid, high skilled jobs.”
