Environment Agency – Veronica Flint Williams, Contracts & Risk Manager Veronica is a Civil Engineer with over 30 years experience in the water sector and has worked for a consultant, joint venture design and build company and more recently in a client organisation. She has a particular interest in commercial matters and has taken a particular interest in procurement and contractual issues throughout her career. She has worked with a number of forms of contract inc. ICE, NEC, IChemE and G90, although over the past few years has focussed on the NEC ECC forms of contract. This started during her time at Yorkshire Water, a client who worked with the consultative document of the NEC, and were one of the first users in the UK. In the Environment Agency, she undertakes the national role of Contracts and Risk Manager and leads training and the development of standard documents to place the Environment Agency in an appropriate position for the future challenges that are predicted. In this role she has worked hard to improve commercial and contractual understanding and appreciation within both her own organisation and also with Key Suppliers within the Supply Chain that we rely upon for their contractual decision making and support in delivery. Suez International – Treatment Infrastructure – Ignacio Palacios, Senior Contract Manager Ignacio is a Building Engineer, Charter Quantity Surveyor and Member of the Charter Institute of Arbitration with over 15 years of experience in the water treatment, marine, hospitality and building sectors. He currently works as a Senior Contract Manager for Suez International in Paris involved in projects ranging from 40E to 700E million in different jurisdictions. He has extensive experience in the use of FIDIC contracts in Europe, Latin America and Asia. Ignacio provides also in-house claims advise and training and participates in the development and implementation of Suez Contract Management scheme. HKA – Charles Wilsoncroft, Partner Charles has experience dealing with all manner of contract dispute procedures, including negotiated settlements, mediation, conciliation, adjudication, arbitration and litigation, both in the UK and overseas. He has practical knowledge of numerous standard construction contract forms including NEC, ICC (with Network Rail standard amendments), FIDIC, ICE, Logic and BIMCO. A leading expert in pre and post contract administration utilising the NEC(3) engineering based contracts, he will deliver thought leadership on both on new build and decommissioning projects and the challenges faced by the sector in a Covid-19 world. HKA – Andrew Drennan, Principal Andrew Drennan is a practising quantum expert and chartered quantity surveyor with over 20 years of experience in quantity surveying, procurement, and commercial and contract management throughout the UK. As well has acting as a quantum expert in adjudication, arbitration and litigation proceedings, Andrew has held senior commercial management roles with several leading UK contractors, including ten years in a consulting role. With experience spanning a wide range of expert assignments in the Buildings, Cabling, infrastructure, Nuclear, Power and Utilities sectors, Andrew has been instructed as a quantum expert witness on several occasions, provided specialist advice on producing disruption claims, assisted in numerous dispute avoidance cases and also provided bespoke commercial and practical contract administration advice.
