Proposals to regenerate historic buildings in Barnstaple have moved closer – with a joint venture being agreed between Acorn Property Group and Wessex Investors. Acorn Property Group, who’ll be speaking and presenting their future development plans at our West of England Economic Growth Conference, are planning to bring the site alive through the creation of commercial space and housing.

Central to the scheme will be 13,500 sq ft of commercial space primarily across the ground floor of the buildings, whilst seeing the creation of numerous new homes including one, two and three bed apartments, along with two and three bed duplexes.

The plans will be shown today to the North Devon Council as part of a design review – with a planning application due to follow in the autumn.

Barnstaple’s southern bank has already seen several impressive schemes come to life in recent years – with the area a real focus for local regeneration. The development of a supermarket, retail park and additional housing being part of that.

Andrew Strathdee, Land Manager for Acorn’s Devon and Cornwall office, said: ”We’re extremely excited to be working with Wessex Investors on such an interesting building that is a key part of the character of the town.”

Join us, and Acorn Property Group, for the area’s biggest conference of the year – the West of England Economic Growth Conference.
