Birmingham Airport have unveiled plans for a £15m extension to Terminal 3 – with firms having until the 17th August to express their interest in bidding for procurement opportunities on the project. The Airport, who’re set to see a huge impact from the arrival of HS2 and the continued economic growth success of the West Midlands, plan to construct a three-storey extension to the existing terminal building and refurbish the existing facilities within the terminal building.

Birmingham Airport, who’ll be represented and exhibiting at the HS2 Economic Growth Conference, have now submitted initial plans to Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council ahead of a three-week consultation period on their proposal.

A spokesperson for the airport said: ”This proposed extension will be located between the existing main terminal and the short pier, within the existing airport boundary. The extra terminal space is intended to ensure a high level of customer service at Birmingham Airport, ensuring more comfort for our passengers. This proposal is an extension to the existing departure lounge and outbound baggage processing facility.”
