Designs have been revealed for a development in St Werburghs which will see the creation of over 100 new homes. The impressive designs, released by Acorn Property who’ll be presenting about their ongoing and future development plans at the West of England Economic Growth Conference, show how the derelict area being completely transformed.

The site, the former home of the Old Brooks Dye Works, will be regenerated with the addition of 81 new homes being built with the iconic chimney retained – with commercial space and an extension to the neighbouring Mina Park also in the proposals. The plan have already been shared through consultations and amended slightly after requested from council planners, and the release of the images brings the development a step forward.

Now that the project has passed planning construction work is set to begin in the next few weeks – with the majority of the work starting in Autumn.

The designs have been put together by architectural practice Ferguson Mann, with show an incredible vision for the 3.83-acre site. The currently derelict buildings will be replaced with two, three and four-bedroom houses, whilst connectivity will take a focus to ensure parts of St Werburghs are linked together through a series of paths.

The 81 private homes set to be built will be boosted by an additional 24 affordable homes which are likely to be rented and shared ownership properties – bringing the total of the development to 105 new houses.

Robin Squire, Regional Managing Director of Acorn Property Group and speaker at the West of England Economic Growth Conference, said: ”Brooks Dye Works is an important regeneration scheme in the heart of St Werburghs and we’re excited to be bringing the site back into use after being vacant for over ten years as well as opening up the development onto Mina Park. We’re pleased to be delivering some much needed new build private and affordable homes within the city and we’ve worked hard with the council to maintain the deliver of affordable houses as well as apartments. We look forward to starting on site this autumn.”
