Meadow Docks Gloucester Peel Crest Nicholson Council Development Housing Apartments Flat

A new £65m residential development set to create 411 new homes in Gloucester has been approved – twelve years after the council initially granted permission back in 2006. The development, set to create stunning new residential properties overlooking the canal, are set to be created at the Monk Meadow Dock site in Gloucester.

Developer Crest Nicholson, who’ll be sharing details of the project at the West of England Economic Growth Conference next week, have worked alongside Peel on the development which will see the creation of:

  • 356 canal-side flats
  • 55 townhouses
  • 468 parking spaces
  • Public areas including play areas, cycle links and public seating
  • 5-16 of which are set to be affordable

The new housing scheme fits into the wider regeneration of the water-side area, with retirement homes, a new Next retail store and other developments around Bakers Quay and Llanthony Priory also ongoing.

Ian Mean, Chief Executive of Business West, said: ”Peel have probably now invested over £350m into the development of the Docks, and last night’s decision to me was one of the final pieces of their development jigsaw for Gloucester. I have to pay tribute to the councillors who have realised the value of that ongoing Peel investment – without it this city of ours would not be in the rude state of economic health it is in today with further investment coming in on the back of Peel’s lead.”
