American broadcasting giant CNN have named Dundee as one of their must visit locations in 2018!

Dundee – set to be the venue for the Dundee Development Plans Conference on the 31st January – has seen a huge masterplan take place in the city since 2001 to transform the region into a market leader in design. Once the UK’s capital of cash register product the decrease in demand due to the loss of traditional industry needs due to overseas imports meant Dundee has had to reinvent itself – and it’s done exactly that. Now Dundee is a cultural icon, with a massive £1billion to be spent as part of the masterplan and the city has been transformed. And with the Dundee Waterfront scheme set to hit landmarks in 2018 the development is clearly going to be a discussion point at the Dundee Development Plans Conference.

We’ll be joined at the event by Mike Galloway; Board Member of the Dundee Waterfront project and Director of Development at Dundee Council.

One of the landmarks will be Dundee Museum – which is due to open in the second half of the year. The work is getting underway to fit out the exhibition, which will host displays charting Scotland’s design heritage as well as hosting regular exhibitions to draw new collections to the city. After Brexit scuppered the opportunity for Dundee to be the European Capital of Culture in 2023 it’s likely this news will drive additional tourists and attention to the region in an exciting time for Scotland.
