The region hosts a number of globally significant business clusters, world class research capacity linked to universities, a number of thriving market towns, and is the UK’s leader in agriculture, food and drink. The area boasts 700,000 jobs, 60,000 enterprises and generates £30bn per annum. There is a significant amount of activity in terms of infrastructure and development happening in the region, with new buildings rising by the month, the University of Cambridge’s £1bn development with accommodation, schools, surgeries and more, and that’s in addition to over £1bn being pumped into the city by the government for a new railway station, new homes, roads, and much more. With a new Mayor in place at the Combined Authority, increased devolution powers and a very active LEP there is lots going on.
