Disruptor Series: An Introduction to Disruption and Innovation in the Construction Sector

This webinar is part of a new series on the future of the construction industry which are taking place over the next 6 months, and will explore the next big trends, innovations and challenges the industry needs to prepare for.

We will gather 4 major industry influencers and free thinkers to discuss the challenges and opportunities that will be present across the built environment in the years to come.

  • The Construction Scotland Innovation Centre – established in 2014 the centre is the hub to connect the 31,000 plus businesses in the Scottish construction industry with academic expertise. It is a unique partnership between industry, academia and government and aims to be a catalyst for growth and profit in the construction industry.
  • Construction Innovation Hub – David is the Impact Director for the Construction Innovation Hub. With over 25 years in industry David is a Chartered Construction Manager by background and Global Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Information Management (Consultancy Director) for AECOM. He was previously employed by Mace as Head of BIM, and as Technical Services / BIM Programme Director with Balfour Beatty.David has been involved in delivering innovative BIM and digital asset management strategies across the globe from UK, Hong-Kong, Singapore, Australia and the Baltics. He was seconded in the UK Cabinet Office in 2011 as Head of BIM Implementation and has been a key contributor to the UK public sector BIM mandate (GCS 2011-2016) and continues to support through his role with the Centre for Digital Built Britain programme. He was also seconded into the Scottish Future Trust (SFT) as Chair of the Scottish BIM Delivery Group.
  • Arcadis – Lara Potter currently leads the Workforce for the Future Programme for Arcadis in the UK. The programme supports digital transformation across disciplines and sectors – building understanding of the skills, capabilities and culture needed to make the most of digital and technology. She is a thought leader on how data and technology can deliver solutions in the built environment and is currently focused on the skills and culture required to accelerate disruption and innovation in the construction sector. She will discuss how we can enable disruption in the sector, and what needs to be done to maximise the benefits this will bring.
