Future Development Plans – Oxford Cambridge Arc

It is an exciting time for the OxCam Arc, with infrastructure projects such as East West Rail, large scale housing and regeneration schemes and major growth in the technology and life sciences sectors all contributing to a sense of optimism about the regions future.

In the run up to November’s two day conference we will explore what ‘Build Back Better’ means for the Arc and how increased connectivity, sustained economic growth and a more balanced housing supply can all be achieved whilst moving towards net-zero.

  • England’s Economic Heartland – Martin Tugwell has more than 20 years of experience in strategic transport and infrastructure planning while operating at national, regional and local levels. He is Director for England’s Economic Heartland, the sub-national transport body for the region which includes the OxCam Arc. He will discuss how EEH’s transport strategy will contribute to the ‘Build Back Better’ agenda and how strategic infrastructure projects including East West Rail and The Cambridgeshire Autonomous Metro will increase connectivity and be a catalyst for major sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
  • Bidwells – Sue is Research Director at Bidwells and a Trustee of the RICS Research Trust, with over twenty years property research experience. She previously headed UK Research at JLL and Cluttons, having also held property research positions with St Quintin, the Department of the Environment and the Center for Urban Policy Research in the US. Fresh off the release of Bidwells Global Investment in the Arc report, Sue will discuss the Arc’s strategic priorities and lead into our two day OxCam Arc Economic Growth Conference, at which Bidwells will be corporate partner.
  • Milton Keynes Council – With a plan to rejuvenate seven former council estates and the town set to be a main beneficiary of the forthcoming East-West Rail scheme, it’s an exciting time to be a built environment organisation in the Milton Keynes eco-system. Milton Keynes Council have promised to enable billions of pounds worth of investment in the next decade and turn their local authority into a hub of inclusive economic growth.They join the event to talk about some of the key strategic initiatives.
