Future Development Plans – Garden Communities & New Towns; Sponsored by DAC Beachcroft

Tuesday, 2nd February 2021 0945hrs – 1130hrs

As part of our regular visits to the realm of the Garden Communities and New Towns development scene, Built Environment Networking bring you this mid-year update featuring high value intelligence on a number of development initiatives across the UK.

The national Garden Village agenda has captured the imagination of both public and private sector stakeholders and in total there are close to £30bn worth of ‘live’ projects that fall under the garden communities descriptor; many more are in the pipeline.

Join our fantastic line up of speakers as they go into depth about policy, challenges and collaboration opportunities while taking a look at how the agenda may be shaped for the annual conference that is set to take place later in 2021.

Speakers for this event include:

Fiona Gray,
Project Director
Tim Atkins,
Managing Director of Place and Growth
Katy Lock,
Director, Communities and Project Delivery
Christopher Stanwell,
Partner
  • Buckland Development Ltd – the Master Developer of Welborne in Hampshire.  The project is unique in many ways with a legacy vision to deliver homes, employment, infrastructure, green space and more for a sustainable new community in the region.  2021 will be pivotal to turning our vision, created over the last decade, into reality.
  • Cyber Central Garden Community – one of the masterminds behind the 3000 home Cyber Central Garden Village and business park project, Tim will join the session to talk about the challenges and opportunities that face his team as they aim to deliver two million square feet of office space alongside a major residential area. Golden Valley- as it is to be called upon completion- recently finished its public consultation stage and are now working with a number of developers to kick start development on site.
  • Town and Country Planning Association – as Director of Communities and FJ Osborn Fellow Katy oversees TCPA’s work on new and renewed communities and leads on the TCPA’s campaigns and promotion of garden city principles in policy, legislation, education and the arts. This involves working at all levels of government and with a wide range of public, private and third sector organisations and individuals, at all stages of planning, design and delivery. Katy is also responsible for overseeing Project Delivery at the TCPA.
