As the third largest metropolitan county in the country the potential for development and economic growth in Greater Manchester is massive. Building on from our successful 2019 Greater Manchester Conference, this online event will delve into the major zeitgeist topics in the region such as building inclusive and zero carbon communities, major regeneration and inclusive economic growth.

LCR Property – Adam Wisher, Regional Director, North West

LCR are part of the team behind the Mayfield Partnership which is one of the UK’s largest regeneration projects. The first phase of the project will include 319,900 sq ft of commercial space across two buildings, including The Republic, which features 244,000 sq ft of office space, and The Poulton, which has 75,900 sq ft of commercial space. LCR’s activity also includes being part of Rochdale Council’s plan to redevelop land around its five train stations which will create 7,000 homes, 2.5m sq ft of commercial space and an £11m cycle corridor.

 

Great Places Housing – Matthew Harrison, Chief Executive

Manchester based Great Places Housing has recently merged with Equity Housing Group to create a 24,000 home group. With a bright future ahead, Matthew with give more details on the group’s development pipeline and plans to create inclusive communities in Greater Manchester and tackle the housing crisis.

 

Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council – Pam Smith, Chief Executive

The region’s ‘coolest, greenest’ new urban village is to be built in the heart of Stockport. The ambitious vision for Stockport Town Centre West includes up to 3,500 new homes set in a ‘walkable neighbourhood’, with ‘enviable public transport’ connections. This forms part of the £1bn plus investment going into the town over the coming years with Pam revealing more about the future transformation of Stockport.

Ask Real Estate – John Hughes, Managing Director

Manchester based Ask Real Estate have significant plans for the city having recently gained planning approval for two huge projects. The first involves the next phase of their First Street commercial development; a 400,000 sq ft building which will compromise of 270,000 sq ft of office space and 11,700 sq ft of retail space. Their second development is a 21 storey aparthotel in the Deanstage area which will have 310 beds.

 

John Hughes Ask Real Estate

Rochdale Borough Council – John Searle, Director of Economy

Rochdale Council is planning to redevelop land around its five train stations to create 7,000 homes, 2.5m sq ft of commercial space and an £11m cycle corridor to increase connectivity and boost the local economy. The plans also include development around a potential sixth railway station in the borough, proposals for which form part of Transport for Greater Manchester’s 2040 strategy.

 

Built Environment Networking – Amanda Griffiths, Director

Amanda is one of the Co-Founder’s of Built Environment Networking – formed almost 10 years ago.

She’ll be hosting a number of the sessions throughout the day, running the days proceedings and managing the interaction between our virtual delegates and the speakers.

Investar Property Group – Michael Dong, Chief Executive Officer

Placemaking is at the heart of Investar’s developments with their latest scheme in Stockport being no different. Working on collaboration with the Trafford College Group’s Stockport College this £65 million mixed-use scheme will the creation of an inter-generational residential village, new-build homes, a co-working space, commercial/ancillary units and green public realm. We’ll hear more from Michael about how this development will provide a platform for housing, health and business collaboration, to add social value and to forge a real sense of community in a key Stockport location.

 

Far East Consortium – Gavin Taylor, Executive Director of Property Development

Far East Consortium have massive plans for Manchester; their Northern Gateway regeneration scheme is a £1bn project in partnership with Manchester City Council and is proposed to deliver 15,000 homes in the next 15 to 20 years and will include at least 3,000 affordable homes. Gavin will go into detail about the first phases of the regeneration which include a ‘family’ of three towers with 634 homes in Red Bank and 330 homes in Collyhurst which will include 130 council houses.

Wigan Council – Alison McKenzie-Folan, Chief Executive

Wigan have big plans for The Galleries, the 440,000 sq ft shopping centre they bought in 2018. Options tabled for the £125m redevelopment could include adding hotel, residential, leisure, education, healthcare, or flexible workspaces, as well as a cinema or bowling alley. The Council have also pledged £4m to relocate Wigan market, with new facilities.

 

Packaged Living – Sophie Gunn, Development Manager

Packaged Living’s latest scheme in Manchester will see 350 apartments developed. Under the plans, Packaged Living aims to develop a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, as well as 10,000 sq ft of retail and amenity space, a public square and car park. This scheme is part of the huge change happening in the Piccadilly East area of the city.

Oak View Group – Mark Donnelly, Chief Operating Officer

Plans to be build the UK’s biggest indoor arena in Manchester are taking shape. American firm Oak View Group will build the £350m venue close to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium. The 23,5000 all-seater arena would be able to host around 120 major events a year, creating around 3,500 jobs during construction and 1,000 jobs once it opens for business.

Irwell Valley Homes – Claire Griffiths, Executive Director of Growth, Development and Assets

Irwell Valley Homes plans to build up to 260 homes across 90 acres of the estate, with a full application for the first 80-unit phase followed by subsequent phases, which include 180 homes and improvements to the existing Sale West Community Centre. Claire will expand on the details and reveal their wider plans in Greater Manchester over the coming years.
