Ealing Council – Julian Bell, Leader

Julian is the Leader of one of the largest boroughs in London – and one of the most diverse communities in the whole of the county. He is heavily involved in regeneration, which is included in his cabinet portfolio, and he also represents the borough on other organisations including the West London Alliance, Local Strategic Partnership, London Councils, Transport and Environment Committee and Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation.

The borough is a powerhouse of west London’s economy, and they’re focusing on major growth opportunities spurred by five new Crossrail stations, and the massive Old Oak & Park Royal project is one which will help transform the area. With so much happening there is a major need to accelerate housing, alongside sustainable and community led developments, and Julian will be speaking about some of the major projects and development zones.

Apex Housing Group – Val Bagnall, Managing Director

Val has over 24 years of experience in the residential development market, with a key focus on the South and London regions. Working for a variety of affordable and private sector firms he has gained excellent experience across different sectors, but has always been a focal figure in the need to deliver social and affordable housing. He is a Non-Executive Director of a Affordable Housing providing in Windsor alongside his role at Apex.

He’ll be speaking about Apex’s major new projects set to happen across the capital, and their future projects in the pipeline. Having recently received £10m from Homes England to develop roof-top homes across London it’s clearly an exciting period for the developer, and one which will be looked to expand across London and other city centres.

Interland Group – Cyril Ogunmakin, Chief Executive

Cyril is responsible for the overall management of Interland Group – a forward thinking property investment company with developments across the UK and Europe. He made his way to his current role having spent more than 30 years in the industry in a variety of property and project management roles. He has worked with some major firms including Bruntwood AND The Mansion Group.

The capital continues to be a key location for Interland as they grow their portfolio. They’ve recently completed the first phase of the Kellogg Tower site redevelopment, and their now working on the second phase – Park View Place. This phase will see the delivery of 350 new homes, situated in a stunning and environmentally aware site. That scheme is current awaiting approval and they’ll be discussing timeframes and procurement opportunities for not only this project but many others within the pipeline.

Pocket Living – Nick Cuff, Land Director

Nick is an experienced Land Director with a strong history of working in the real estate industry. In addition, he has spent 12 years as an elected Councillor in the London Borough of Wandsworth leading the Planning Committee and helping to enable major regeneration projects and thousands of homes across the Borough. He holds Masters degrees in Real Estate, Town Planning and currently undertaking a degree in Innovation and Strategy from University of Oxford.

Pocket Living have identified the need to give ‘a leg-up’ to those within London who could otherwise get lost in the London economy. They focus on delivering affordable but high-quality developments within the capital – and Nick will talk through some of the ongoing projects and importantly their future schemes and what their pipeline looks like, with some exceptional schemes to be launched shortly.

University of Oxford – Danny Dorling, Economic Geographer

Danny has published more than a dozen books on issues related to social inequalities in Britain and several hundred journal papers. His work concerns issues of housing, health, employment, education and poverty, and this will be the focus of our disruptor session.

He’ll be discussing how, through development and sustainable growth in our industry, we can collaboratively work together to help rebalance the economy.

Meridian Water – Peter George, Programme Director

Having worked for Hackney Council for 5 years at the beginning of his career Peter has been a key member of Enfield Council since 2009. His time at the Council has seen him progress through many different roles, including heavy involvement in the £350m Alma Estate regeneration.

He now works on the ambitious Meridian Water scheme, a development which is set to deliver 10,000 new homes, a new train station, a new employment hub creating thousands of jobs and more. They’re actively looking to speak with developers and firms from across the built environment industry to help deliver the £6bn project.
