University College London – Francesca Fryer, Director of Estates

Francesca was appointed as Director of Estates at the University just under a year ago, having been drafted in due to her exceptional experience is senior estate roles with the Ministry of Defence and the BBC to name just two.

She now oversees University College London’s estate strategy and facilities infrastructure, covering property acquisition and management, capital projects, engineering, maintenance, sustainability, safety and security. She first year at UCL has been spent ‘largely observing’ and now the work will begin to look at the longer term Estate Strategy work – developing a longer term plan for how the university must best grow the estate to meet the growing needs of the university. She’ll be discussing in detail where that vision might take the university.

Scottish Government – Kat Feldinger, Head of Investment

The Scottish Government are key to promote fresh development sites to the London marketplace. With many companies basing their HQ within London sometimes investors and developers don’t see the opportunities within Scotland – but it represents one of the most exciting and attractive opportunities for companies.

Kat will share details on what their strategy is to driving fresh investment and development into the country is, whilst sharing details on potential city centre opportunities, new innovation zones and more. Brexit will also be a key focus alongside other topics.

Heathrow Airport – Rupert Waters, Head of Economic Development

The Airport is on the verge of a transformational expansion – and with the recent news of the project being given the thumbs up we’re delighted to have Heathrow speaking at this event to talk about the plans, the timeframes, procurement opportunities and their offsite manufacturing sites set to be build across the UK.

Proposals for a new runway will see major new works happening – with an expansion of the airport, lowering of the M25 and mass infrastructure works, re-routing of rivers, new car parks for 50,000 cars, and mixed use development including hotels and more which will be unlocked. This event offers a unique opportunity to directly meet a senior stakeholder in their estates and growth plans.

Commercial Park Group – John Baker, Founder

John is an incredibly well-known figure across the industry. From the Prada Building on Bond Street to rejuvenating the Burlington Arcade in Mayfair, John has a rich and varied development history involving some of London’s most iconic properties. With a pioneering approach, he has accomplished some of the worlds ‘firsts’ on the commercial real estate scene. They include the first building to push through the £100 per sq ft barrier, making 25 Hanover Square the world’s most expensive office building.

John’s newest venture, The Commercial Park Group, will see the delivery of approximately 2 million sq ft of Grade A business destinations in exceptionally well-connected locations outside of London. The three current developments, Gatwick Park, Haywards Park and Bromley Park, will each promote wellbeing, productivity and creativity through excellent design and by bringing work closer to where people live.

John will join us to share his vision for the project and ambition to pioneer a new movement in the workplace, captured by the company’s ‘Live Better, Work Better’ ethos.

Kings College London and Guy’s & St Thomas NHS Trust – Peter Ward, Director of Real Estate Development

Peter is currently responsible for the development of new healthcare, teaching and research facilities for King’s College London as well as Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust – predominantly at the Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospital campuses in South London.

The campus is undergoing a major refurbish and development programme to increase space for health education and training and Peter will be discussing the ongoing and future estates plans for this and other King’s College London estates.

Birkbeck, University of London – Jeremy Tanner, Director of Estates

Since leaving University Jeremy has had a career with higher education institutions – firstly with Oxford Brookes University before his move almost 13 years ago to the University of London.

The university have several projects under development which are just the first steps in delivering Birkbeck’s ambitious Estates strategy. They’re looking to deliver a substantial increase in high-quality teaching, study and research space, and this masterplan will be the key focus on Jeremy’s presentation.

Ennismore – Joseph Godfrey, Capital Projects Director

Joseph and the team at Ennismore are behind some exceptional projects in the UK – creating unique buildings and thriving authentic neighbourhoods which excite and attract. They re-imagine old buildings and breathe excitment and life into a new ones from industrial warehouses and derelict estates.

They’re currently developing The Hoxton is Southwark which is a 110,000 sq ft site – with plans for a 200 bed hotel, 40,000 sq ft of office space and more. They’re on the look out to build, develop and invest across London and Joseph will be talking about their ongoing schemes but crucially looking towards the future for Ennismore and their longer term plans.
