ONLINE CONFERENCE: Next Generation Developments

Friday, 26th June 2020 0900hrs – 1545hrs

This online conference will focus on shaping the next 30 years of the property and development sector from the mouths of the prodigal talent and companies who will be at the vanguard of the evolution.

Whether it be ‘rising stars’ within a current pan-UK developer or the chance to hear from an emerging force whom they may not be aware of, this event offers everyone the chance to shape the future, peek behind the curtain of what might be coming and gain a hatful of new contacts.

Some of the developments set to be discussed include:

We have an excellent line-up of speakers who’ll be joining us for this event to share their expert knowledge. They include:

Scottish Canals – Catherine Topley, Chief Executive

The canal system has an incredible past – but there is also a thriving future for these thoroughfares.

Having once served the Industrial Revolution these waterways are now planning to play a vital role in the future by combining innovative thinking, strong partnership working, and a commitment to doing things differently.

Their strategic vision will see Scottish Canals being reborn as arteries of regeneration that bring health, social and economic benefits to the communities that line their bank and the nation as a whole.

We’ll hear exactly how that’ll plan out in the future on the conference.

XUSA Properties – Alex Impey, Founder

Bursting onto the scene in the North East and Scotland, XUSA have a number of projects coming to market and are proving to be extremely popular with local authorities due to their sustainable approach to development. Amongst their upcoming schemes will be 10,000 sq ft of commercial space and an apartment block in Darlington, a big build to rent project in Northern Scotland and several other exciting projects which they will reveal as part of this session.

Packaged Living – Sophie Gunn, Development Manager

Described by her peers as a rising star in the BtR market, Sophie will discuss Packaged Living’s ongoing portfolio of work across the UK including their exciting Aubrey Place development in Milton Keynes and major residential project in Manchester.

Magway – Huw Thomas, Development Director

The revolutionary Magway is proposing an e-commerce delivery system like now other that improves air quality and congestion by removing significant numbers of products, parcels and vans from highways and urban areas.

The ‘Hyperloop’ of logistics the plan is to utilise proprietary technology with existing treied and tested solutions to deliver goods more reliably.

Unlike Hyperloop there are many more elements that don’t need to be tested, speed and cost can be reduced, and therefore the Innovate UK backed firm is in a position to roll the scheme out. With contacts already in place with the likes of Old Oak & Park Royal Development Corporation this new infrastructure could be the next big thing in the UK.

District Technologies – Vanessa Lee-Butz, Founder

Fast becoming one of the UK’s most eminent voices on the integration of technology into the built environment and a pioneer within the smart city movement, Vanessa is ideally placed to share a vision of what the UK development scene will look like in the next 30 years.

Dandara Living – Zoe Sharpe, Development Manager

Over a 15 year career as a dually qualified surveyor and lawyer, Zoë has acted for PLC house builders, asset managed part of a £100 million regional U.K. commercial property portfolio and led the asset management of a 360 acre development site set to deliver a new urban quarter in Bristol.

Her current role provides her most challenging but also most rewarding project to date. Bedminster Green – South of City Centre in Bristol – is a complex urban regeneration project.

Delivering one plot outright and one plot as the development partner for Bristol City Council, Zoë has, over the last 18 months, taken a leading role in ensuring effective collaboration across private and public sectors to secure planning and achieve delivery of the project.

Planning permission for Dandara’s plot is set to be granted in summer 2020. This event will be a perfect time to provide an update.

Brick by Brick – Guy Rochez, Senior Development Manager

Brick By Brick are a housing company set up by Croydon Council to provide properly designed, affordable homes for local people while giving any profits to the councils to be used for public services. They have 2000 homes in development across the Borough and recently submitted plans for 374 homes on 24 small sites.

The council also has a plan to retrofit homes to make them more energy efficient amongst other schemes in the planning to achieve the target.
