Here’s an overview of the confirmed speakers: Rolls Royce – Tom Samson, Interim CEO, UK Small Modular Reactors Consortium Rolls Royce are leading a Small Modular Reactor Consortium project to build 16 mini nuclear power stations. The plans will create up to 6,000 regional jobs, and secure exports of up to £250m. The aim behind the project is to contribute to the UK’s net zero commitments affordably, through each small reactor able to provide 440MW of electricity, which is enough low carbon power for a 450,000 homes city. As Interim CEO, Tom will be able to share insight into the plans, alongside how the plans will affect the country. Sizewell C / EDF Energy – Julia Pyke, Director of Financing With Sizewell C set to meet nearly 7% of the UK’s power demands when complete, and power around six million homes, Julia will be able to share insight into development plans, the medium to long term impacts of the plant and current projects. Julia will also be able to talk about the ambitions to make the nearby town of Leiston the first net zero town in the UK by investing in EV and solar infrastructure. UK Atomic Energy Authority – Paul Methven, Director In early 2021, the UK AEA will have some very exciting news about the development of a new power station in the UK.
