Fortwell Capital – Dan Smith, Chief Executive

Fortwell Capital has launched a €300m (£257m) push into Ireland with a €21m construction loan to Red Rock Developments. The deal with Red Rock kickstarts Fortwell’s lending in Ireland, where it is aiming to emulate its growth in the UK debt sector. Dan will discuss Fortwell’s plans for Ireland and the potential they see in the country for inclusive economic growth.

Housing 21 – Deborah Hope, Head of Development

Housing 21 is a leading not for profit provider of Retirement Housing and Extra Care facilities. They operate in nearly 200 local authority areas, managing over 20,000 properties and are the largest provider of extra care housing in England. They have one of the largest development programmes for older people’s housing and have committed to build 2,100 Extra Care properties and 210 Retirement Housing properties by 2022 and 1,000 properties per year thereafter. Deborah will discuss some of their upcoming schemes, the areas in which they are planning to expand and what they look for when selecting partners to work alongside.

McCarthy & Stone – Andy Feculak, Development Director

McCarthy & Stone need no introduction, being the UK’s largest developer and manager of retirement communities with more than 40 years’ experience and 56,000 homes delivered across more than 1,200 developments. They recently entered into a development partnership with Anchor Hanover to bring forward a number of “affordable for all” later living communities across England. The partnership will initially bring forward 482 units across five sites  Hampshire, Leicestershire, West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester, with a GDV of £120 million. Andy will discuss this partnership as well as their wider development programme, which sees over 1,000 units delivered each year.

Inspired Villages – Sonia Parol, Design Director

Inspired Villages were established in 2017 when the founding members partnered with Legal & General to operate and develop later living communities, after 5 years and impressive growth they are backed by a joint venture partnership between Legal & General and NatWest Group Pension Fund. They are on track to deliver 2,500 homes for over 65s over the next six years and a long term commitment to expand their portfolio to 34 retirement villages and around 8,000 homes. Upcoming projects include a £100m development in Kingswood, Surrey and a 146 bed care community in Horsham.

Allegra Care – Henry Lumby, Executive Director

Allegra Care have formed a partnership with Moorfield Group, a specialist real estate fund manager with the aim of creating an initial £125 million portfolio of modern nursing and dementia care homes. The partnership will look for both acquisition and development opportunities with the aim of building a portfolio of 15-20 care homes across central and southern England. Henry will discuss these exciting plans, as well as how their commitment to the household model, resident and staff wellbeing and service quality will allow them to meet the changing needs of the UK’s retirement population.

DAC Beachcroft – Anna Hart, Partner – Social Care

Anna Hart is a Partner in DAC’s Healthcare Regulatory Team.  Specialising in advising clients on a broad range of civil and criminal regulatory issues. She has advised clients in the public, private and charitable sectors in relation to crisis management and regulatory investigations conducted by the Police, Care Quality Commission, Health and Safety Executive and Local Authorities and she is accustomed to dealing directly with regulators on behalf of clients.

Birchgrove Retirement Living – Paul Evans, Construction Director

Developers and operators of high level later life living projects in the South East, Birchgrove are renowned for the quality and attention to detail as well as resident satisfaction. As their organisation expands they have announced ambitions to develop numerous further sites across the region starting with a new 60 unit scheme in Waverley. Paul joins the conference as a highly respected leader within the sector and will be in a position to share his thoughts on how the third age will change after a tough 2020.

Built Environment Networking – Amanda Griffiths, Director

Amanda is one of the Co-Founder’s of Built Environment Networking – formed almost 10 years ago.

She’ll be hosting throughout the day, running the days proceedings and managing the interaction between our delegates and the speakers.

Riverside – John Glenton, Executive Director of Care and Support

Riverside are a leading national provider of social housing with almost 56,000 homes throughout England. They have a major focus on retirement living, providing over 5,000 units in more than 200 schemes nationwide. John will discuss their plans to invest in and expand their retirement portfolio, and their commitment to championing the social and wellbeing side of retirement living.

Retirement Villages – Guy Flintoff, Planning Director

Retirement Villages Group are one of the UK’s biggest later life living developers with a raft of exciting expansion plans set to be brought forward in 2021. Their development strategy centres around creating a new later living environment where people can enjoy all the benefits of retirement village life but in locations close to existing centres and amenities with transport, shops and facilities all at the doorstep. They currently have 16 sites in the UK and Guy will share their thoughts on what the future of the sector looks like – especially in a post-Covid world.
