Recently developing a £1bn mixed-use health innovation district project, which aims to support 20,000 people and bring in £140 million a year to the Scottish economy. Clyde Gateway – Martin McKay, Executive Director of Regeneration Glasgow has one of the largest regeneration projects outside of London; Clyde Gateway is providing £1.5 billion,20-year investment programme. Developing Scotland’s first Green Regeneration Innovation District , with green business spaces and 3000 new homes over 100,000 sq. meters. The ongoing development of Clyde gateway provides major investment in commercial and residential. Martin will be joining the session to discuss current and future development plans and how to support mixed-use and commercial regeneration. Transport Scotland – Fiona Brown, Head of Strategic Transport Planning Fiona leads on their current Strategic Transport Projects Review and the recent COVID Transport Transition plan. West Dunbartonshire Council – Richard Cairns, Strategic Director, Regeneration, Environment & Growth West Dunbartonshire Council have secured a 150-acre former ExxonMobil owned site for development, as part of the £523 million Glasgow City Region Deal. They are proposing to carry out an industrial and commercial development which will see the creation of nearly 700 full time jobs, a distribution hub and new transport infrastructure. Richard will share more details on the project which is being hailed as the most significant in the region’s history. Edinburgh City Council – Councillor Neil Gardiner, Convenor, Planning Committee With so many innovative regeneration projects being spearheaded by the city council, it is an exciting time to be investing and developing in Edinburgh. In particular, the team are supporting net zero development and those which use modern methods of construction and their flagship scheme is the £1.3bn Edinburgh waterfront which Neil will talk about as part of this event. The council are also coordinating a collaborative masterplan to drive forward the development of 7,000 homes on a 205 acres site to the west of the city. Castle Rock Edinvar – Richard Jennings, Managing Director Castle Rock Edinvar are part of Places for People, one of the UK’s largest social housing providers with nearly 200,000 homes. The group have a pipeline of over 25,000 homes for development, and as part of this Castle Rock Edinvar are one of Scotland’s leading social housing providers. Richard will give an overview of the group’s approach to placemaking and their pipeline of development for the coming year. Qmile Group – Paul Curran, Chief Executive Property developer Qmile Group is currently constructing the £350m Haymarket Edinburgh commercial, leisure and retail development in the Scottish capital. Once complete it will provide 380,000 sq ft of Grade A office accommodation, a 365-bedroom hotel and 40,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space. Edinburgh-based Qmile Group has secured its first pre-let at the development with independent investment partnership Baillie Gifford taking 280,000 sq ft of office space in a seven-storey building. This will become the firm’s new head office and has been taken on a 20-year lease. Qmile Group’s chief executive, Paul Curran, will discuss Haymarket Edinburgh’s masterplan and its focus on delivering sustainability and inclusiveness. Aberdeen City Council – Richard Sweetnam, Head of City Growth Aberdeen City Council is continuing to make good progress on its programme to build 2,000 council or affordable homes. The Council’s masterplan setting out long-term plans to regenerate the area of Aberdeen beach is to be developed in a £150 million investment to regenerate Aberdeen city centre and link it to the beach area. The masterplan will capitalise on the built and natural assets of the area which is a tourism priority in its own right and is likely to be more in demand in a post-Covid-19 and recovery phase as people seek safe, outdoor, wildlife, and active experiences. Richard will join the session to give more intel on this significant investment for Aberdeen and reveal how their housing and regeneration plans will drive tourism into the city. John Dewar Lamberkin Trust – Alexander Dewar, Trustee The John Dewar Lamberkin Trust are behind the Perth West expansion, which has been described as “Scotland’s largest carbon neutral development”. The project covers 240 acres of land and includes plans for a national innovation business park providing over 1,000 jobs, 1,500 homes, leisure and educational facilities and an “innovation highway” linking the development to the centre of Perth and utilising smart technology and renewable energy sources. Alexander will share details of this exciting scheme which is currently in the planning process.
