He is a Design Director and Head of both ‘Student Living’ and ‘New Business’ at WCEC; operating at a national level in leading the business and engaging with a broad range of clients on projects. He works from inception through to completion on projects, but with a stronger focus on securing new work and leading projects up to Planning stages. He maintains regular contact with a broad range of leading clients in the sector. He has also been invited to speak at a number of National and European conferences on Student Living design and the evolution of the sector. Nick’s strength lies in building relationships with people and using his network and experience to explore ways to add meaningful support and value to his clients. Leigh Bramall, Deputy Leader; Sheffield City Council Neil Taylor, Chief Executive; Bassetlaw District Council Huw Bowen, Chief Executive; Chesterfield Borough Council I’ve been chief executive of the council since May 2008. It is a privilege to fulfil the role and I take great pride in ensuring that the good people of Chesterfield have access to the very best facilities and services. And what really makes me tick is knowing when I leave the Town Hall at the end of every day that the Council will in some small way have made a difference to the quality of life of local people. I was born and brought up in the small mid Wales town of Builth Wells, and attended college in Cardiff where I qualified as an environmental health officer in 1988. After five years working for Wrexham Maelor Borough Council, I returned to the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff to complete a PhD in Public Health. In my research and consultancy role at the university, I was commissioned to work on projects for the World Health Organisation, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the International Programme on Chemical Safety, and the four UK government health departments. I returned to local government in 1998 and after five years with High Peak Borough Council, I joined Chesterfield Borough Council where I held the roles of strategic director of community services and deputy chief executive before taking over the reigns as chief executive. I have just turned 50, which feels like a major milestone, and have recently celebrated 20 years of marriage to Joanne. We have 2 teenage boys, Rhys (17) and Harri (14). With 2 sports-mad boys, I spend most of my free time on the side of football, rugby, hockey or cricket pitches. I also particularly enjoy running and cycling in the Peak District and I am a keen follower of the Welsh rugby team. Scott Cardwell, Assistant Director of Development; Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council Dr Dave Smith, Interim Executive Director; Sheffield City Region Dave is heading the Sheffield City Region and started work on 2 February 2016. In this interim position Dave is responsible for the Executive functions of the SCR Combined Authority and Local Enterprise Partnership. + Google Calendar+ iCal Export Sheffield City Region Combined Authority – Progress Report | Details Tickets You must have JavaScript activated to purchase tickets.
