Solving The Housing Crisis in Scotland; Sponsored by Collective Architecture

This webinar will focus on the much needed development of housing in Scotland.

The issue of how to accelerate the delivery of affordable and social housing across Scotland to meet the ever growing need has been at the forefront of the housing sector for years.

During this webinar we look to tackle some of the constraints – discussing and debating with experts and affordable housing developers on what needs to happen, how we can accelerate development, how MMC might play it’s part, what the planning reform may mean and more…

This event will run in a similar manner to all of our physical events – with short presentations from several key speakers and opportunities for live Q&A and interaction.

  • Dundee City Council – as Leader of Dundee City Council, John will be able to give an expert opinion on future house developing plans in Dundee, alongside what the main challenges facing the housing development sector. We will hear the council’s thoughts on solutions for the housing crisis, and also their own plans moving forwards.
  • RDRL – as part of the DunBear Park development, RDRL are developing over 100 new homes alongside the retail and leisure units, drive-thru units, a hotel, offices, a nursery, care home and elderly amenity flats, also being developed. As a key developer across Scotland, Ken will be able to share what he believes are the biggest challenges facing Scotland in relation to housing, and what the key solutions may be.
  • Wheatley Group – are the UK’s largest social housing developer, delivering more than 1,000 homes a year across Scotland. They recently drew £72 million in funding from the European Investment Bank which will enable them to bolster their housebuilding ambitions. Jackie will outline their plans for the coming 12 months as they look to ramp up delivery.
  • Collective Architecture – is 50-strong, Scottish based architectural practice, with studios in Glasgow, Edinburgh and the North East. The practice is 100% employee owned and has an established reputation for forging award winning, high quality, socially conscious architecture.  Together, the team has delivered a broad mix of residential projects across Scotland, most recent examples include; Leith Fort Regeneration (Saltire Housing Medal 2018), Anderston Phases 4&5, (Best Affordable Housing Development, Homes for Scotland Awards 2019) and Bell Street Stables Conversion (GIA Special Conservation Award 2019).
