During this insightful presentation Peter Coombs will explore the need for planners to steer sustainable development towards incorporating Blue Green Infrastructure, often referred to as SuDS, to provide multiple benefits for all stakeholders. Against a backdrop of developing human wealth at the expense of the natural environment there is a fundamental shift taking place. Peter will explore the latest drivers to reverse the current trends of increased flooding & pollution spills due to ageing infrastructure, climate change and poorly planned urban growth. Innovyze specialises in the whole built water cycle with technology that solves the blight of drought as well as flooding. We understand the consequences of failure and the need to improve the way we develop with a more sustainable approach in the future. Blue Green Infrastructure takes storm water flow out of the upstream drainage system reducing the cost of treatment, as well as reducing the risk of flooding, benefitting the environment and all stakeholders but better spatial planning at the outset is absolutely key to success. The presentation will be 10 minutes duration with an opportunity to pose questions during a subsequent Q&A.
