The industrial developer has recently set its eyes on the Thames Valley with a 370-acre regeneration project planned for the former Honda facility in Swindon. Panattoni has committed to invest over £700m into the site to attract new businesses, growth and inward investment. Opus Land – Victoria Turnbull, Joint Managing Director Opus Land have major plans in the pipeline in the West Midlands and South West having recently exchanged contracts on an 850,000 sq ft speculative scheme on the Prospero Ansty park near Rugby as well as a 50 acre scheme at Central Park in Bristol. Opus have extensive experience of working in partnership with landowners, investors and occupiers with assets under management approaching 3 million sq ft across the Midlands, South West and London and Victoria will join the conference to showcase their future plans in the Urban Logistics market. Logistics Capital Partners – Michael Kirkland, Associate Director With over £5bn of logistics assets on their books, Logistics Capital Partners are responsible for the mega West Midlands Interchange project which will include 8 million square feet of new logistics space across 734 acres in South Staffordshire. The project is being enabled through the delivery of a new link road- A5/A449 and is expected to create £430m of economic activity per year. Michael joins the event to detail the project and the sheer number of new skills needed to support such an effort. Fiera Real Estate UK – Chris Button, Head of Value Add Fiera Real Estate recently launched the Logistics Development Fund UK targeting a total of £300m and is the firm’s first logistics sector-focussed development vehicle, it will have a strong focus on ESG with all projects targeting net-zero carbon construction. The fund will develop new units of up to 300,000 sq ft located in major metropolitan areas and supported by prime transport infrastructure to meet unprecedented occupier and investor interest for last mile logistics real estate. St. Modwen – Polly Troughton, Managing Director, Logistics St. Modwen is an expert developer with a £1.41bn portfolio with a substantial commercial development pipeline focused primarily on industrial & logistics space with over 7.3 million sq ft of consented development in the pipeline as well as further 6 million sq ft going through the planning process. Polly heads up St. Modwen Logistics’ arm and will be on hand to discuss their sector leading strategy on their massive portfolio and development pipeline. Cubex – Joseph Downey, Director Cubex is a leading South West developer with a pedigree in logistics projects as well and city centre office, residential, mixed use. Their focus for 2022 is on the logistics sector, particularly on providing ‘intelligent’, tech-enabled, sustainable buildings across the South West and Wales. Key projects include a £30m GDV unit on a 9.5 acre site in Monmouthshire, a £19.2m scheme on the edge of Swindon town centre and a £25m, 160,000 sq ft warehouse in Somerset. Joe will discuss how Cubex are working hard to address the shortfall of urban logistics space in the South West and are looking for further opportunities to develop logistics and last-mile delivery sites include on obsolete industrial stock. Evri – Deborah Faithfull, Senior Estates Manager Evri (formerly Hermes Parcelnet Ltd) have extensive plans to increase their national logistics portfolio which comprises of more than 200 properties. Deborah is tasked with acquiring the assets needed for the fast moving environment that Evri operate in and will be on hand to discuss their future plans which include the delivery of 6 brand new depots across the UK along with a multitude of smaller Last Mile delivery units. Trebor Developments – Bob Tattrie, Managing Partner Trebor are active across the UK delivering high quality industrial development for major blue chip clients such as Amazon, DHL and DPD amongst others. Trebor are particularly active across Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and the West Midlands and Bob will be on hand to discuss their pipeline across the UK which totals nearly 150 acres of development. Potter Space – Jason Rockett, Managing Director Jason was recently featured in Property Week after Potter Space commissioned research into demand for small to mid-sized warehousing (sub-100k sq. ft.) – finding that demand for these spaces is continuing to endure despite challenges to the sector including rising inflation, interest rates, and fuel prices etc. The sub-100k sq. ft. market is not often discussed, partly because the rapid growth of ecommerce and Covid-19 has meant that big-box has taken focus in recent times, but Jason will join the conference to discuss its importance to the sector as well as touching on their own development plans across their business parks in Ely, Ripon, Knowsley, Selby and Droitwich. Be First Regeneration – Anna Sinnott, Director Be First Regeneration have ambitious plans to build London’s largest new film and TV studios for 25 years opposite Dagenham East station – costing £300 million, contributing £35 million annually to the region and creating 1,200 new jobs. Bridge Industrial – Aisling O’Kane, Vice President, Head of Planning Bridge Industrial, the US-based industrial real estate operating company and investment manager, recently celebrated its one-year anniversary in the UK with the firm closing on four site acquisitions in 2021, forming a build-to-core joint venture with PSP Investments targeting a portfolio value of £1 billion. Bridge recently completed their biggest deal with a £90 million London site bought for an Urban Logistics scheme and they are actively pursuing land and development opportunities throughout Greater London, the South East, and the West Midlands. Aisling will be on hand to discuss their early successes as well as their future plans and strategy to grow their UK operation. Great British Railways – Helen McAllister, Programme Director (Freight Reform) In the Williams-Shapps Plan for Rail, the UK Government committed to setting a rail freight growth target. The Department for Transport commissioned the Great British Railways Transition Team (GBRTT) to develop a range of rail freight growth target options including developing rail freight hubs outside the ‘golden triangle’ of logistics hubs. Helen is one of the leaders in the team that is actively looking into where these hubs could be located as well as researching how much of the current and future market demand for freight could be met by rail, and the role rail can play in the nation’s supply chains and will join the conference to share intel on their plans and findings. Kier Property – Nicholas Scott, Senior Development Director Kier Property are pressing ahead with their £1.5bn+ GDV development pipeline with numerous industrial and logistic projects throughout the country. Planning approval has also been granted for a first Trade City scheme in Manchester by Kier Property – totalling 93,000 sq ft and comprising nine units ranging from 3,800 sq ft to 23,600 sq ft on a 4.8-acre site. Their Manchester scheme will be Kier Property’s 55th industrial scheme in the UK and builds on its most recent acquisitions in Bognor Regis, Milton Keynes, St Albans and Bracknell. Nicholas will be on hand to discuss these schemes and Kier Property’s future investment in the sheds and logistics sector. Nick will reference their Knowsley scheme in the presentation along with schemes at Luton and Southampton to keep the flow of airports and ports Lloyds Banking Group – Nicola Haigh, Head of UK Real Estate Nicola is Head of the UK Real Estate and Housing team for SME Business and Commercial Customers and also has responsibility as the Regional Director for London and South East Real Estate, Healthcare & Education sectors. She has been involved in investment and development financing in the logistics and industrial sector has extensive experience in leading bespoke, multi-product deal teams that cater for her clients’ needs and has a particular interest in improving sustainability within the sector and will be on hand to discuss what Lloyds Banking’s ambitions will be in the Sheds and Logistics sector over the next 5 years. Transport for London – Dr Polyvios Polyviou, Strategy & Planning Manager – Freight TFL owns a 5,700 acre estate that includes land and properties with £20 billion of development in the pipeline – with huge potential for creating the homes and the commercial development for jobs that the capital needs. Polyvios leads on TFL’s freight policy and strategy and will join the conference to discuss the support they are giving to operators in the freight realm including their London FreightLab which looks to offer funding, land sites, and subject matter expertise to create innovative ideas, which could be further developed and tested through the London FreightLab challenge – working with ten leading industry partners on the challenge including CEVA Logistics, DPD, Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, John Lewis Partnership, Royal Mail, Thames Water, UPS. UK Warehousing Association – Clare Bottle, Chief Executive UKWA is the trade association representing the UK Logistics Sector providing a voice for the industry. They promote the interests of their members to Government and other influencers at all levels. Their mission is to drive up standards and to support our members in operating safely, ethically and profitably. Before taking over at UKWA, Clare had experience at the likes of Hermes, Kuehne + Nagel, TFL and Coca Cola as well as being the Vice Chair of Women in Logistics UK and will be well placed to discuss the sector’s contribution to UK PLC and the role it plays in creating inclusive economic growth. CEG – Will Martin, Strategic Lead – Land CEG has huge plans for the Midlands with a number of key strategic developments either delivering or set to come to the fore over the coming years which will deliver more than 10,000 homes as well as nearly 500 acres of employment sites. These include 3,000 homes as part of a new village near Gaydon, Stratford upon Avon, 1,400 homes on the outskirts of Derby, 4,500 new homes near Leicester and proposals for 900 homes in Stratford upon Avon and a further 800 homes in Coventry. Will has been leading on these projects on behalf of CEG in the Midlands and will join the conference to discuss their ambitions, and the economic benefits the delivery of these schemes will bring. Logistics UK – Kate Jennings, Director of Policy Logistics UK is one of the biggest business groups in the UK, supporting, shaping and standing up for, efficient logistics. They are the only business group in the UK that represents all of logistics, with members from the road, rail, sea and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers whose businesses depend on the efficient movement of goods. Kate recently joined Logistics UK as head of Policy and will be well placed to discuss the sector’s role in creating inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the UK as well as the role it will play in the government’s levelling up agenda. They take a tailored approach across the listed and private markets, among and among their mandates are two of Europe’s leading listed logistics funds, Tritax Big Box and Tritax Eurobox as well as their development arm Tritax Symmetry. Alan recently joined Tritax as Director of ESG and will be well placed to discuss their future investments in the UK as well as their push to achieve Net-Zero across their portfolio. Maple Grove Developments – Karen Hirst, Managing Director Maple Grove Developments were chosen to partner Lancashire County Council on the massive ‘Lancashire Central’ development which is expected to generate over 2,000 jobs. Industrial developments form a large part of the scheme as well as research and development, retail and leisure hubs. Aside from those plans, Maple Grove are also active across the north of England delivering industrial schemes in Yorkshire and the North West and Karen will be on hand to give insight into these schemes and how they will create future ‘place’ in the north. British Land – Mike Best, Head of Logistics British Land have entered the warehouse property development market in the past couple of years – with big plans to increase their investment in the sector having already amassed a 2.8m sq ft warehouse property development pipeline which is currently centred around London and the M25 corridor and worth around £1.3bn. Mike was recently recruited to lead British Land’s warehouse development charge and will be well placed to speak about their future plans including potentially breaking into the North West market. Birmingham City Council – Maria Dunn, Head of Development Policy The recently launched “Our Future City: Central Birmingham Framework 2040” will double the city’s green space and active travel routes and has the potential to create 74,000 new jobs as well as 35,000 new homes for the growing population. Maria will delve into the masterplan, which was launched at UKREiiF, in more detail and outline how it is a once in a generation opportunity for equitable growth. Stoford Developments – Tony Nash, Director Stoford are set to deliver employment park as part of plans to revitalise Wellesbourne Mountford Airfield. The development will see 140 acres of much needed employment land along the M40 corridor and is part of a promotion strategy to provide a new runway and enhanced aviation facilities to secure the long-term future of the airfield. Stoford have secured a commercial land pipeline of 1,200 acres across the UK, delivering zero carbon in use as standard and Tony will be on hand to discuss Stoford’s wider development plans for the Midlands. Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport – Sharon Kindleysides, Chief Executive Climate change is arguably the most pressing environmental challenge of our time, and with Logistics and Transport accounting for 28% of all UK carbon emissions, the sector has a huge role to play in reaching net zero by 2050. The challenges are great but so too are the opportunities, and CILT believes that the sector will be a key part of the solution. Over the coming years the CILT will work to provide the knowledge, networks and knowhow to inspire and inform ambition: keeping the sector moving on a Route to a Net Zero future.
