WEBINAR: Developing the Western Gateway

Monday, 1st June 2020 1400hrs – 1500hrs

Over the coming months we’ll be hosting a series of webinars – helping to keep the industry moving and talking during a period of uncertainty, enabling people to talk and build relationships whilst helping to maintain industry confidence and demonstrating thought leadership.

This webinar will focus on the development activity in the Western Gateway – the new proposed powerhouse forming a collaborative approach between the West of England and South Wales. We’ll look to address some of the key issues and challenges which we as an industry face in the coming months whilst looking at how we can maximise opportunities in the gateway. Speakers will be invited to share details on their current development programme and future pipelines as well as providing advice and opinion on what the industry needs to do to survive the current crisis, what is requires in the short term and how we will manage the increased demand and activity once the UK recovers.

This event will run in a similar manner to all of our physical events – with short presentations from several key speakers and opportunities for live Q&A and interaction.

Speakers for this event include:

Claire Pearce,
Director of Planning & Economic Development
Professor Sue Rigby,
Vice-Chancellor
Cllr Jane Mudd,
Leader
  • This is Gravity – Gravity, the UK’s first commercial smart campus, is the blueprint for a smarter, cleaner future – faster. It will deliver a new era of possibility by supporting companies making a difference socially, economically and environmentally, driving the UK’s shift to growing through a cleaner economy.
  • Bath Spa University – As one of the major employers in the region, the University plays an important role in driving the economy and attracting inward investment into the Western Gateway region. Sue will talk about the University’s work to build relationships with business and cultural organisations to foster economic and cultural development.
  • Newport City Council – have been one of the main drivers behind the Western Gateway Powerhouse and were instrumental in getting the project off the ground. Jane will give some thought leadership on the Council’s role in putting forward the partnership to promote collaboration and unlock the potential of the region.
