Wakefield Council – Tom Stannard, Corporate Director, Regeneration & Economic Growth

As Corporate Director of Regeneration and Economic Growth, Tom can talk about the council’s planning policies for securing growth and investment in their local development 2036 plan. On this session he will talk about how this will impact their future projects on placemaking and developing inclusive communities.

 

Mott MacDonald – Lisa Littlefair, Leeds City Director

Lisa is the cities account lead for Leeds and her background is in economic development. She works to connect the multi-disciplinary expertise across Mott MacDonald with the challenges and opportunities within the Leeds City Region to generate benefit to people, places and the economy. Lisa is interested in how digital innovation can drive the delivery of inclusive and sustainable solutions.

Leeds City Council – Angela Barnicle, Chief Officer Asset Management and Regeneration

Leeds City council are half way through their £10bn regeneration programme which is bringing to life a variety of major sites as part of their vision for an ambitious, well connected healthy city. Partnering with a raft of major developers to support projects such as Kirkstall Forge, Aire Park and Mabgate, they will also update delegates on plans for the South Bank and progress on the £450m Leeds Innovation District.

CEG – Paul Richardson, Asset Manager

Over the last 12 years, Paul has managed a multi-million sq ft portfolio of commercial space on behalf of CEG. This includes flagship schemes such as the 110,000 sq ft, seven-storey award-winning Number One Kirkstall Forge in Leeds, which was 70%-let by the time it opened in November 2017. The £400 million Kirkstall Forge development is set to deliver a thriving mixed-use community of 1,050 new homes, 300,000 sq ft of offices and 100,000 sq ft of retail, leisure and community space and CEG has already delivered a new railway station connecting the site to Leeds City Centre in six minutes. Paul is also working on CEG’s 8 acre Temple development in Leeds City Centre which will deliver up to 103,900 sq m of offices, retail, leisure, hotel, health, education and community uses, parking and up to 750 new homes, along with new public spaces and landscaping.

Palace Capital – Neil Sinclair, Chief Executive

Palace Capital Plc currently have multiple projects ongoing in the West Yorkshire area, including a 117,000 sq ft development of Broad Street Mall in Halifax, and an 88,000 sq ft office space development in Leeds. Neil will be able to talk about how these developments will be home to major companies such as the Governor & Co. of the Bank of England, and retail giants Vue and Pizza Express.

Glenbrook – Guy Butler, Co-Founder

Glenbrook are major players in the Greater Manchester BTR market having delivered Manchester’s first purpose build BTR scheme in 2019. Having also built award winning sites in Salford and Castlefield the developer has now got permission to build 639 homes in a £160m scheme as part of Bruntwood and Trafford Council’s Lumina Village project. Elsewhere Glenbrook are also bringing forward major employment schemes in Stockport and Wigan and Guy will be on hand to discuss their activity in Greater Manchester and the growing BTR sector in the region.

Thirteen Group – Sharon Thomas, Director of Strategic Partnerships

Sharon has worked in housing since 1994, starting her career on the front line working in homelessness and housing management at Darlington Council.  She worked as Housing Regeneration Manger at Stockton Council for over a decade delivering large scale housing led regeneration before taking up the post of Director of Economic Development and Infrastructure at Middlesbrough Council.

In 2017 Sharon joined Thirteen as Director of New Homes Delivery with responsibility for delivering the new affordable homes programme.  She recently took up the new role of Director of Strategic Partnerships at Thirteen, leading on developing and maintaining partnerships with external stakeholders, local authority partners and funding agencies.  She is also has responsibility for regeneration and placemaking.
