1,300 new homes given green light in Bristol Posted on: October 3rd, 2018 The creation of almost 1,300 new homes on the edge of Bristol have been given the green light this week as a scheme has been recommended for approval. The development, being brought forward by Crest Nicholson, will see the 65-hectare site transformed into a thriving community with amenities and local facilities. [emaillocker id=”71749″] Crest Nicholson, who’ll be sharing details of the scheme at next weeks West of England Economic Growth Conference, are set to bring to the former greenbelt site: 1,290 new homes including a mix of terraced and semi-detached 22% to be affordable homes Primary school Nursery Local centre including shops, restaurants and bars Community hub including a library, kitchen, café and main hall for communal events 194,000 sq m of public open space Allotments Football pitches Infrastructure improvements The new neighbourhood development sits in a good location for connectivity, with a railway station nearby and other improvements set to happen. It’s linked to another nearby housing scheme which is seeing the creation of a further 300 new homes – all in a zone highlighted by the local council as a key housing area. It’s been highlighted for numerous years as a site which could help tackle the need to accelerate housing in the region. Due to ‘viability constraints’ Crest Nicholson are unable to build the local authority’s affordable house target of 35% of the scheme – however they’ll be covering the difference through a grant funding to help meet the need for additional affordable housing elsewhere within the county. Alongside the housing developments will be public open space – with more than 190,000 sq m being required. The West of England Economic Growth Conference takes place on the 11th October 2018. Tickets can be purchased here. Crest Nicholson will take part in the Housing Session alongside Cubex Land, Taylor Wimpey, Pegasus Group and Alliance Homes Group. [/emaillocker]
