EDGE London Bridge 2

Titled EDGE London Bridge the scheme on St Thomas Street will see them turn a 26-storey tower into state-of-the-art commercial office space – whilst making it London’s most sustainable office tower. [emaillocker id=”71749″]

EDGE – who’re speaking on our Towers & Tall Buildings Webinar – are known for their work across the Netherlands, but they recently made a move into the UK marketplace with the acquistion of 60 St Thomas Street. A planning application has now been submitted to Southwark Council – with architects Pilbrow and Partners working with EDGE on the project.

The building will achieve both ‘BREEAM Outstanding’ and ‘WELL Platinum’ certification, whilst having a large focus on the health and wellbeing of those working at the site. There will be a large public park next to the building, connected and integrated for the wider community, whilst that green feel will be brought inside too.

Large green displays and planted balconies will feature inside, whilst underfloor air supply, good natural light, excellent views across the city, facilities including a gym, coffee bar and more are all included.

EDGE’s Chief Operating Officer Boudewijn Ruitenburg – who’ll be speaking at our Towers & Tall Buildings Webinar – said: “These trying times make importance of healthier and more sustainable buildings even more clear. We will continue to address this in working with all our stakeholders and partners. We aim to make EDGE London Bridge the most sustainable office tower in London, offering high quality office space with the highest wellbeing standards. We aim to make a significant and sustainable impact on further development in London, without losing sight of the history and heritage that is part of London’s appeal.”

Pilbrow and Partners Fred Pilbrow added: “Our collaboration with internationally renowned Dutch sustainability pioneers EDGE has been a fantastic experience for Pilbrow and Partners. Together, we have shaped the first of a new generation of London tall buildings that combine the highest standards of sustainability and wellbeing. The base of building, where a new park is drawn into the publicly accessible interior, marks an equally significant departure from the standard London office model.”

Simten Developments, EDGE’s local development partner for the project, has drawn on strong local experience to build a great team, helping to secure the site and advance the planning for the most sustainable office tower in London. Edward Beaver, Partner at Simten Developments, said “Having delivered a number of innovative schemes in London, we are delighted to go even further with EDGE, bringing their deeply sustainable approach to the London market. Looking after staff and providing healthy workplaces has never been more important.”

CBRE and Knight Frank have been appointed as leasing agents and have closely worked together with the design team to make sure that the office spaces are designed to the highest standards in the market. [/emaillocker]
