A new entertainment resort with a variety of attractions and entertainment, is coming to the UK! You can see the full details on their website here > http://www.londonresort.info/

We’re set to hear all about the development plans at the Kent Development Plans Conference later this month as London Resort are set to speak. The resort is set to be huge with the proposal outlining plans for:

  • World class theme park with rides, attractions and experiences
  • Hotels including flexible space for hosting conferences, exhibitions and events
  • Indoor entertainment including cinema and nightclubs
  • Daytime and evening entertainment, shows and parades
  • Themed food and beverage outlets and retail space
  • Control centre and guest facilities
  • Infrastructure improvements including a dedicated dual carriageway between the A2 and resort
  • Connectivity developments including footpaths, cycle routes and Thames jetty
  • Wildlife habit creation next to the River Thames
  • Thousands of onsite car park spaces
  • Landscaping including water features

The park is set to be a catalyst for regeneration in the region including the delivery of the Ebbsfleet Garden City. It would create thousands of jobs both directly and indirectly – with an estimated 30,000 new jobs generated. The regional economy would benefit vastly from the additional spend in the area, and the attraction is set to be a global audience driver – with expectations of customers visiting from around the globe.

The overall site, including the access corridor to the A2, is approximately 535 acres – based on the Swanscombe Peninsula on land to the east of Ingress Park and north of Ebbsfleet International Station between the A226 and the River Thames. The proposed site offers what is described as ‘superb direct access’ by all means of transport linking Ebbsfleet to the rest of the country and Europe. London Resort Company Holdings Ltd are working closely with Dartford Borough Council, Gravesham Borough Council, Kent County Council and the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation to bring forward a comprehensive masterplan for the entertainment resort which will be sent off later this year.

Transport is hugely important to make sure those from the UK and globally can be attracted to the entertainment resort and two options have been discussed. Proposals suggest a 17 minute commute from St Pancras via train, potential Crossrail extension, Eurostar links to Paris (2hrs 5mins) and Brussels (1hr 50mins), new infrastructure to allow easy access from road with the M25, M2 and A2 all closeby, and potential river taxis and clipper services.

A huge benefit to economic growth in the region and across the UK will come in the form of job opportunities. The range of full time and part time jobs expected to be delivered due to the project include:

  • Over 9,000 jobs at the Entertainment Resort (6,500 full-time)
  • A further 2,300 jobs in the Entertainment Resort hotels (1,800 full-time)
  • Potentially 21,000 indirect jobs through the supply chain and growth from spending in the local area (16,000 full-time)
  • Over 6,000 construction jobs during peak build period

The jobs created will be across a wide range of opportunities including skilled professional roles. Local schools, job centres and community groups are assisting in helping London Resort Company Holdings Ltd understand the mix of skills and resources available in the local labour pool and this will then help guide recruitment and training provision.

The exciting project will be discussed at the Kent Development Plans Conference on the 29th January. Join us there!
