Housing 21 Kirklees

Housing 21 has had plans backed by planners for the development of 80 Extra Care apartments in the West Yorkshire region of Kirklees.

The scheme, developed alongside Kirklees Council and Brewster Bye Architects, is the firms first in the region – and Housing 21 will be discussing their projects and plans at the Retirement & Later Life Living Conference in February.

Accommodating people over the age of 55 the scheme will have a focus on local communities – ensuring those who fill the properties have a connection to the local area. The 80 properties will be a mixture of one and two bedroom apartments all available for rent. [emaillocker id=”71749″]

The design team have ensured the project promotes a community feeling and independent living – with an on-site team to deliver care packages to residents if needed. Additional facilities include:

  • Activity room
  • Communal lounge
  • Gardens
  • Hair Salon
  • Cafe and Bistro

Clare Hemming, Senior Property Development Manager at Housing 21, said: “The scheme will provide much needed affordable homes for older people in the area, with onsite tailored care and support packages available to help residents live independently for as long as possible.”
