Nottingham City Council have confirmed that they’re exploring the potential for pre-lets for a proposed 100,000 sq ft office development. The scheme, which would be situated within the City Centre, would create a stylish office complex along with café space on the lower floor at the bottom of Arkwright Street.

The City is seeing an increase in investment and developments in the City currently – with the Southern area around the train station a real focus for builds, and we’ll be hearing more on the proposal and future developments at the Nottingham Development Plans Conference in May.

The proposed site is a triangular piece of land at the bottom of Arkwright Street known as Crocus Place and it will developed into Grade A office space. Speaking at MIPIM the Council’s Corporate Director of Development and Deputy Chief Executive, who’ll be presenting at our Nottingham Development Plans Conference, said the scheme was dependent on HMRC’s decision on where to base its regional hubs, but he hoped Nottingham would be one.

He said of the potential project: ”We’re confident that HMRC will reveal it’s plans within a couple of months, and that will ensure a number of dominoes begin to gall. We know there is a lack of Grade A office space in the city, and that there is great demand. We’re working with Miller Birch to bring forward the Guildhall site, and marketing of the scheme should start in around two months time. Nottingham Trent University has expressed interest in the site, and we’re looking to attract a hotel operator alongside more office space.”

Nottingham are in the midst of a decade-long investment programme which will see the deliver on new development areas, new infrastructure and more – and there is a real buzz with the arrival of the Midlands HS2 Hub and talks about a potential collaboration to enhance Nottingham and Derby’s connectivity.

David Bishop added: ”Everything is coming together this year, with the Broadmarsh bus station and car park, the Nottingham College hub, the redevelopment of the Broadmarsh shopping centre and more. We have to take this opportunity.

Join us for the Nottingham Development Plans Conference to hear from Nottingham City Council, Igloo Regeneration and many more set to be confirmed soon.
