A draft Local Plan has been approved by senior councillors which will give a huge boost for housing numbers across South Kesteven. The plan will see more than 15,000 homes being delivered over the next 25 years.

The revised plan will now go before the council’s cabinet today (10th May) – which outlined the authority’s ambition to deliver housing for the region until 2036. It’s likely to form part of the discussion at the Lincolnshire Development Plans Conference where we’ll be hearing from South Kesteven Council’s Steve Ingram; Strategic Director for Growth and Development.

The Local Plan will outline future developments and give guidance on whether or not an application can be granted, and under proposals by South Kesteven District Council it would see 625 new builds a year – totalling 15,625 properties in the planned period.

Included in the plan is a proposal for 3,700 new homes in Grantham as part of the Spitalgate Heath Garden Development – one of fourteen garden villages planned across the country by the Government.

The council have also identified employment and housing sites in Market Deeping, including proposals for 590 homes at Linchfield Road, along with other large potential development zones at Grantham, Stamford, Bourne and the Deepings.

The Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Development, Cllr Mike King, said: ”It’s important that the council proactively plans to meet the future needs of the district in order to ensure that any proposed growth can be as sustainable, in both its location and form, as possible.”

We look forward to hearing more from the Council about their plans at the Lincolnshire Development Plans Conference, as they’ll be looking to engage with investors and developers on their new Local Plan to ensure the ambitious plans and opportunities are unlocked.
