Regeneration specialists LCR, owned by the Department for Transport, are to partner with Nottinghamshire County Council as they look to maximise the huge potential the arrival of HS2 will have on the East Midlands. The partnership will help the region prepare for the ‘once in a generation’ infrastructure scheme which is set to help transform the region and drive regional and national economic growth.

LCR, who’ll be represented by Managing Director of Business Development Jamie Kerr at next months HS2 Economic Growth Conference, will now set around creating plans which will unlock thousands of jobs, increase investment into the area and improve homes and infrastructure. They’ve been at the forefront of several major infrastructure and transport led regeneration projects and they’ll now bring their expertise to the East Midlands and Toton. They’ve been working on some other ambitious schemes including those in Leeds, Sheffield and Staffordshire.

David Joy, Chief Executive at LCR, said: ”As a platform for driving investment in the local economy, the potential benefits of HS2 are vast. Our proposed partnership reflects Nottinghamshire County Council’s forward-thinking approach to maximising the regeneration benefits offered by better connectivity and the creation of a major new transport hub.”

Cllr Kay Cutts, Chairman of the Toton Deliver Board and speaker at the HS2 Economic Growth Conference, said: ”The arrival of HS2 has the potential to provide massive economic benefits for Nottinghamshire and the wider region, so it is important we are in a position to maximise that potential. This is a once in a generation opportunity with the potential to benefit local people and our economy for generations to come, but we must plan and act now if those benefits are going to be achieved. There is still much work to do to formalise the development body, which may take some time and be subject to Parliamentary assent, so it’s our intention to work with LCR in the interim on the preliminary work and to assist in the creation of the development body.”

The HS2 Economic Growth Conference on the 7th November brings together 500+ delegates, 50+ speakers and 30+ exhibitors.
